Stem is dutch for voice. Microphones were called stemPELs (stem piezo electric ligament) until somewhere in the mid to late 80s until we caught up and started using mic just like everyone else.

dont know why everyone has to give answers trying to emulate aphex twins responses in 90s interviews. if you wanted to pretend to act like him why not be nice? he seems nice on his warp store.
