ninja tune recommendations please

I'm trying to get into the lesser known depths of the ninja tune catalog. I've listened to most albums of the big names, amon tobin, vibert, funky porcini, clifford gilberto, etc, but I'm wondering what other artists from the lineup I should check out next. what does watmm recommend?

big +1 for Kid Koala. 12 Bit Blues is a great album of his too.

+1 on Jaga Jazzist. You really can't go wrong with any of their albums. The first two (Livingroom Hush & The Stix) are absolutely essential, in my opinion. One Armed Bandit and Starfire shifted into a more progressive rock style, but with really clean execution. It's awesome.

The first two Herbalizer albums are really good too, much more straight hip-hop than their later output. Mr. Scruff is an obvious choice if you're in the mood for something wacky and fun. Hard to listen to something like Trouser Jazz and not have a smile on your face.

Something a bit more obscure maybe, I've always really liked this Animals on Wheels album:

Pretty low-key and chill, but with some mad jungley breaks shuffling around. A very organic sounding take on the drill n bass style. It's got a really unique feel. Definitely worth a listen if you've never heard it before.

Was checking out their Discogs, it's mindblowing how much major things they've released oh my. Was really surprised. As for recs, I am only truly up to date with their post-2010 catalogue so here goes. Some generally underappreciated things that I really enjoyed were

Space Dimension Controller - Orange Melamine !!! (was my pick for 2016 aoty)

Sarathy Korwar ‎– Day To Day

Illum Sphere - Glass

Lee Bannon - Pattern of Excel

anything FaltyDL

anything Actress (not necessarily fully my cup of tea but WATMM-esque)

those early 92,93,94 dj foods are really nice

Up, Bustle And Out - Light 'Em Up, Blow 'Em Out

London Funk Allstars - London Funk Volume 1 ‎

Refried Food series

Chocolate Weasel ‎– Music For Body Lockers

also Neotropic&Cabbage Boy(si Begg)..both ntone

Funkungfusion comp.  Bought it on a hunch when it came out because it had an Amon Tobin track, and it became one of my favorites of all time.  Really opened me up to a world of new music.

It's a great collection of tracks. Flexistenialism is super solid too. They really had an amazing lineup of artists in the mid 90s.

Indeed. A lot of good times for me back in the late '90s/early 00's hanging out at friend's places getting stoned listening to ninja tune, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Coldcut, downtempo type stuff.

Another comp to check out is Funkjazztical Tricknology. And one that got a lot of mileage back in the day was called Stoned Chilled Groove, which wasn't on Ninja but was a remix album by Coldcut & Stictly Kev of DJ Food.

they used to have their shit together but enjoy the digging, even tangenting off the above picks will reap stacks of good gear

I second the Amimals On Wheels - Designs And Mistakes album.

Also Coldcut's - Let Us Play album is really underrated, imo. Some really clever stuff on that.

Loads of great compilations and singles too.

The Squarepusher remixes of Flatbush Zombies and the Scratch Yer Head are ace.

The Wagon Christ remix of 2 Player - Extreme Possibilities is easily one of my fav tunes ever.

Seconding Music By Cavelight. excellent album.

The first Super Numeri record is great, too.  Never heard the second one. It's too bad Pop Levi broke up the band to play second-rate Bjork soundalikes with Ladytron, big step down in terms of quality but I guess you've go to eat.

Man I forgot about Yppah, haven't listened in a long time but I dug his first 3 albums...

Kid Koala is always a fun listen, he's great live too.

Also:

Dorian Concept - Joined Ends
Blockhead "Music by Cavelight"
Leatherette - Where Have All The People Gone?

The Bug Vs Earth - Concrete Jungle

Bicep - S/T

Oh - how could I forget!

The Irresistible Force - It's Tomorrow Already

The best thing Mixmaster Morris ever put out! (Legendary remixes aside)An absolute masterpiece of chillout/ambient music and an exceptionally efficient way to instantly transport yourself to a state of pure carefree bliss. Definitely one of the records in my collection that's seen the most plays, usually pretty early in the morning (It's literally just dawning on me that perhaps that was the intent, given the album title). Really puts your day on the right track if you kick it off with something like this:

I worship at the altar of this mix, crazy that it gets better over time, parts taking on different meanings with the changing of the times.  An uber-gesamtkunstwerk if you will. All sports broadcasts will proceed as normal.

Related protip: Solid steel is celebrating 30 years with a slew of specials for the occasion, including mixes by teh Bug, Juan Atkins, Coldcut et al.  Peep & download: http://www.solidsteel.net/broadcasts/1166

Jah, I had that stoned chilled groove cd back in the day too!  Got me into Fila Brazillia for which I'm forever grateful.  K&D made some great stuff back then, their Sessions & DJ Kicks on k7 were ace and still hold up .

Music by Cavelight is indeed great but don't sleep on his subsequent albums (both NT and post-NT), the Music Scene, Uncle Tony's Coloring Book, and Robin Byrd Era are all great.  Dude's got some more recent ones as well that I've yet to check out.  Been wondering for a while now if ninja dropped him or if he chose to leave

thanks guys, i'll be checking all of these out soon. keep em coming
