gnarlybog
I just bought this after sketching out a few tracks! Seems ideal for complex beats but still trying to get the hang of writing melodies that don't sound super mechanical in here. Very fun, though. Any tips or tricks would be welcome. cern 1 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide gnarlybog's signature Hide all signatures loud flowers Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/96976-the-big-ol-renoise-thread/page/4/#findComment-2911060 Share on other sites
cern
Hello! I have the biggest NOOB question in the world.. If I have for example one bass sample that is played in F then how do I play it like it should been played in the pattern? And what happen if I take that F and trigger it as a C? Is it becoming a C or a weird mix between C and F? Shit my brain is spinning too much around this.. Expand If the sample played as an F, when you play it as a "C" in renoise it will still sound like an F because it is. And if you play a D it will sound like an G. If you want the note names in renoise to match up instead, you'll have to get the same sample in C, to do this just play it 5 semitones lower, so play a G (in renoise), resample that then use it as the sample for a new instrument. I think theres a tool mentioned earlier in the thread that does this automatically though. My notes could be wrong and i may have misinterpreted you, its early cern 1 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/96976-the-big-ol-renoise-thread/page/4/#findComment-2913103 Share on other sites

Go to Sampler, then select the Keyzones tab, below the Keyzone grid there's Base Note. Just set it to F-appropriate octave. vkxwz 1 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide zkom's signature Hide all signatures electro mini-album Megacity Rainfall "cacas in igne, heus" - Emperor Nero, AD 64 Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/96976-the-big-ol-renoise-thread/page/4/#findComment-2913116 Share on other sites

cern
Renoise bump! I totally missed the new 3.4 Update now supporting M1 and Raspberry Pi. https://forum.renoise.com/t/renoise-3-4-0-redux-1-3-0-released/66685 I wish there were more built in sound features in Renoise like in Furnace, Redux is so boring. In Furnace here u can choose different sound engines and tons of different Sound Chips and Modes like from Amiga, Sega Genesis, OPL3 etc.. It is so dope! colunga 1 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/96976-the-big-ol-renoise-thread/page/4/#findComment-2922150 Share on other sites

Bubba69
I would love to get back into using renoise. Never really got super the hang of it but I liked it a lot. I wonder if anyone else will try to build a modern tracker-based DAW. I think renoise is getting a major version update soon, as per a post I saw on reddit: We've now hit 10,000+ subscribers on the Renoise Youtube channel. There's a bunch of new videos incoming, and... info on the next major update coming soon! Crazing
When people used trackers in the olden days did they prep samples in editors beforehand ...I.e. effects, eq etc? I mostly just stole the samples from other people's tracks, lol. At some point I found a simple 303 emulator for MS-DOS that wouldn't run realtime on my 386SX but at least I could render the patterns. And then I started to sample from CDs (both sample CDs and music albums) and radio. I'm guessing there was a simple audio editor for MS-DOS that came with the soundcard, but definitely without an EQ or other DSP things. Just cutting and maybe volume adjustments.
