the only mechanisms are if he steps down or if a majority of delegates at the convention (on aug 17...) decide to shank him. both are unlikely. 

some congress members are drinking the koolaid and getting antsy about how biden is underperforming compared to some dem congress members in polling. they're worried he could lose the house and senate in addition to the white house for the dems. so now some dem congress members actually seem to be trying to get a large group of them to publicly call on him to step down, to try to force it. so far i think there are about a dozen (out of over 200) house dems and no senate dems. 

the self-damage going on among the left is insane and unnecessary. biden's fine, good, and great. trump being reelected may very well look like the most negative event in human history since ww2 or ever. 

the damage being done to biden's chances by such people on the left is profound and i am just disturbed. these idiots are tanking it in hopes of some weird moonshot miracle. people have lost their minds. 

i like kamala but it's a gamble because we don't know what her numbers would look like and by the time we know we'll have 2 months until the election. the modern info space is strange and dense so it may be too late and hopeless by the time we realize we had better odds with joe. honestly joe has a great record to run on, it's hard to find a better one. what's someone else going to run on, joe's record? we just need to push and do the work, and there is enough time to do that with joe.

some politcal takers talk about grabbing popular governors from 2 swing states like whitmer and shapiro and trying to make that the ticket at the convention, bypassing kamala. there too, if it actually happened, we'd find out where we're starting at the end of august, with 2 months to deeply penetrate the very thick modern info space. 

i don't think biden will have a change of heart. i don't think the dems are going to get a huge block to force him out. i don't think a majority of delegates will shank him.

I appreciate what you're doing but let's be real here, the President of the United States is a job where it's kind of important to say the right words as much of the time as possible.  International diplomacy is incredibly nuanced; Zelensky / Putin is an understandable but pretty big mistake.  The president needs to appear to be in control 100% of the time, and it needs to appear that it would be very difficult to take advantage of the president in any situation.

I get that we have to defeat Trump, and I get that if the left takes the high road on Biden then the right will just blow past us on the low road, but FFS let's not pretend that what's happening to Biden is something that can be shrugged off, which is what I read as your attitude in this post.

This is just a tactical game by the Biden administration. 

The tactic is to make Biden look like a fool and a clown together with Trump BUT at last A super woman is going to step up! Obamas wife or Kamala Harris and every American is going to feel saved by the bell and she will win big time! oh that makes sense... it's still awkward af optics. "here i am at an overpriced cafe with a pile of banned books being governor of the largest state in america with my sleeves rolled up!"

hard to convey how dramatic it is that jon favreau on jon stewart's show appears in battle mode and at 13:40 started repeating the message "he can't win," referring to what biden's polls look like. people say obama had great speeches, many of them were written by jon favreau. it's hard for me to find people who's opinions i respect, jon favreau is one. after the obama administration, aside from his media company Crooked, he also ran Vote Save America, a major lefty activism organization. he knows elections, the groundwork, etc. i hate when people act like they can see the future but knowing favreau, and the way he emphatically repeated that phrase, it's significant. this marked a break for favreau. previously he would push back on jon stewart trashing biden. 

my take is that is that this may be how the cookie crumbles. i was hoping that the lefty ecosystem would transform to rise to the occasion of pushing biden to victory. instead, apparently, the disjointed bunch of muddled takers will spend the summer trashing the presumptive nominee in hopes that he decides to step down. then we'll reach the end of august and either he'll still be nominee or he won't. either way, the course looks a lot less certain from here than it would have if people hadn't lent so much credence to the false fox narrative that biden's too old. he's simply not too old to do the job, that's false. to address the argument "what about 3 years from now" i have good news for you, that's what vice presidents are for (if necesssary).

movers on the left are actively working on an alternate ticket and they think it could work. it will be interesting to see how things go if the nominee isn't biden, it would be a major departure from conventional american politics in modern times. it's impossible to know what to expect. 

what's going on with the left since the debate is also serving as tough love that maybe biden needed to shake him out of being weighed down by the job and probably his last living kid being prosecuted (probably unfairly persecuted, cruelly endangering his recovery from hard drugs). biden team seems to be listening and taking advice. biden was lit and killing it at a rally in detroit last night

i didn't watch that video but i've caught some of the recent Stewart on TDS talking about Biden's performance/chances....he's generally not trashing Biden, he's pointing out valid facts that anyone with eyes or ears can observe for themselves. Biden is old and it's hitting him hard over the last ~6 or whatever years, he's declined in a number of very obvious ways that anyone, supporter or not, should be able to acknowledge. i live in America and want the Dems to sweep in the next election, but Biden's clear loss of faculties and ability is a huge point of concern for anyone, particularly those who aren't 100% all in on Dem no matter what (which is of course a very large chunk of the voting population). putting someone younger, reasoned, and who can be a little inspirational or whatever to at least some, who can be a point of narrative for trying to bring out the edge voters, that's a very valid path towards the presidency....even at this late of a stage.
