DEAR CORPORATE AI OVERLORDS

We received access to Sora with the promise to be early testers, red teamers and creative partners. However, we believe instead we are being lured into “art washing” to tell the world that Sora is a useful tool for artists.

ARTISTS ARE NOT YOUR UNPAID R&D

That's definitely AI generated music yeah.

You're right, I make music the 'traditional' way.

The problem with those AI text to music or text to video systems is you have very little control and for me that makes it not very interesting to make or consume.
It's impressive what the software can do but the novelty wears off pretty quickly when you're not making many decisions in the creative act imo.
I like to be able to fuck around with parameters, inputs, modulations etc.

The Planet 9 video is made by running my own 3D animations and camera footage through systems which have maaaaany parameters and the possibility to load your own custom models etc. I mostly use ComfyUI (a node based environment - think MaxMSP but fo AI stuff) although this particular video is quite old so I used Warp Fusion (a collab notebook).
Using my own inputs means I'm also controlling all of the motion, composition & potentially colour palettes.

The metal vid is made with a text-to-video using runwayml Gen-3 or Luma Dream Machine or Kling or Minimax where the only control you have is the text prompt and potentially loading a beginning and/or end frame.
That stuff excels at 'realistic' looking images because the models are trained on movies and youtube videos but suck at doing anything aesthetically new or abstract because it's just not in the datasets and you have no parameters to push into weird places.

This vid for the same artist uses a lot of Gen-2 which is an older, less hi-fi text-to-video model, combined with other techniques (AnimateDiff & Blender fuckery). I don't find it as interesting as the Planet 9 one:

Label AI content on Instagram

Labeling and identifying AI content is different for ads.

As more generative AI tools become available, it’s important to be able to recognize when something may have been created or modified with generative AI.

Why label your AI-generated content on Instagram?

Labeling your AI-generated or AI-modified content on Instagram helps establish transparency and trust. In some cases it’s required. Learn more about this requirement in the Transparency Center.

Content may be labeled automatically when it contains AI signals, or you can label AI-generated or AI-modified content when you share it on Instagram.

How is AI content identified on Instagram?

There are many AI tools that can create or modify content. Some content that is made or modified using one of these tools may have an industry-standard signal that identifies the content as being created or modified using AI tools. For example, you might create an image collage using a common photo editing tool to share with your followers.

Photo editing tools that use AI to change the size or color of an image may add a signal showing that the content was modified using AI. These signals are read by Meta’s systems to determine if the content needs a label.

When will content have a label?

When Meta AI tools are used. Content that is created or modified using Meta’s AI tools and shared to Instagram directly as a post, story, or reel may automatically be labeled above or on the content. For example, some content may have a visible watermark that says Imagined with AI.

When created content has AI signals. Content with industry-standard signals indicating that it was created with AI will be labeled with AI info. This includes content that is created using third-party AI tools. Content that is created using Meta’s AI tools, downloaded to a device and then uploaded to Instagram will also receive an AI info label.

Content with industry-standard signals indicating that it was modified with AI will not receive an AI info label directly on the post, story, reel or thread.

Information about AI used to create or modify content can be found by clicking the  menu on any post, story, reel or thread, regardless of the type of signal Meta receives.

This approach will evolve as people’s expectations and the technology evolve.

Note: Not all AI content contains the information needed to identify it.

When the AI info label is required

Meta requires you to label content you share that has photorealistic video or realistic-sounding audio that has been digitally generated or altered, including with AI. This means that if a digital creation or AI tool was used to create or modify this kind of content, you must label the content before you share it.

Meta does not require you to label images that have been created or altered with AI. Images will still receive a label if Meta’s systems detect they were AI-generated.

Note: There may be penalties if you do not label content as required.

Here are some examples of digitally created content that requires a label:

A video that appears realistic of a group of people walking around an outdoor market

An audio file of two people talking

A song created using AI-generated vocals

A reel narrated with a realistic AI-generated voiceover

Here are some examples of digitally created content that does not require a label:

Video of an outdoor landscape, created in a style resembling a cartoon

Image of person riding a bull (Meta does not require you to label images)

You can read more about this requirement in the Transparency Center.

How to label your AI-generated content

When you label your content, people will see an AI info label on your post.

Note: If you choose not to identify AI use in the content you share, an AI info label will be applied if Meta detects that the content was AI-generated.
