Shiggeru, Shackleton, & Omutaba - The Three Hands of Doom

Nsasi - Coinage

Takkak Takkak - Takkak Takkak

Worth noting that Shigeru Ishihara (Scotch Rolex) was involved in two out of three, not to mention 21st Century Seefeel (speaking of which, still need to check out that latest EP from August)

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

Sort of a lean year for new music for me. The only record here I’d really hate to be without is the Jessica Pratt. Still some enjoyable stuff though. Listed here with a representative track for each album.

Jessica Pratt - Here in the Pitch (Pop)

Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere (Prog Metal)

Dylan Henner - performs Raymond Scott's Soothing Sounds for Baby (Ambient)

aheloy! - deep in the big blue dream (IDM/Jungle)

Disasterpeice - Standstill (Ambient)

Crypt Sermon - The Stygian Rose (Epic Doom)

Coral Morphologic & Nick León - Projections of a Coral City (Ambient)

PYUR - Lucid Anarchy (Electronic)

Dustin Wong & Gregory Uhlmann - Water Map (Experimental/Jazz)

Wrecked Lightship - Antiposition (IDM/Bass)

Will Gregory Moog Ensemble - Heat Ray: The Archimedes Project (Electronic)

NUG - Bong Boat (Ambient/Dub)

Garden Gate - Magic Lantern (Soundtrack/Horror)

Julia Holter - Something in the Room She Moves (Avant Pop)

I always feel this kinda weird guilt/regret when I see these threads lol. I don't check out new stuff nearly as much as a lot of you. I'm always catching up. Like it's not that I don't listen to anything new at all but I'm often a few years behind. I listened to a lot of 2023 music this year? It's all a bit overwhelming. I'm more likely to take recommendations from here than anywhere else though. But still it's a lot. I tend to just listen to a lot of the same stuff, I have cyclical/seasonal patterns and a huge music library as it is. I'm less inclined to take chances on new stuff cause I find a lot of it just isn't for me. This seems like a "getting old" problem maybe.
There's also the immense amount of work that goes into being an autechre fan lol. Gotta put in the hours! No time for other music!!!

I've definitely been getting less adventurous this year and feeling like I'm getting old, normally I spend more time with new people, like it'll be around 50% of the artists I'm hearing being new to me, but this year I spent most of my time closer to 25%

I still found some cool new people though. Have you all been keeping up with that label EVEL's releases? I feel like I heard a lot of great stuff from them this year, though more of it is on the colder digital side. But they had this sample based one that was a lot of fun, I think it would have some potential fans around here!

I'm still working out something about my favorite music of the year but I just wanted to get this one shouted out now!

Yes, EVEL is a great label.

EVEL's on fire yeah. Nebulo's most recent one is a must-listen, such an amazingly talented chap.
If you guys are into EVEL, then you may be into Conditional as well ? Computer music GOAT Calum Gunn self-released 2 stunning LPs this year, you have to grab Burnt Motto :

priori is my tops. an amazing full length and a couple dance floor oriented 12”s.

skee mask. he's that good. wealth of new material this year. all good.

some top notch lush actress stuff on smalltown supersound.

new false aralia label from peak oil / topdown? dudes.

and then all of this sick stuff.

Haven't heard of Moonbuilding but there's a bunch of stuff I haven't heard of before on this list that I like.

Hey all - been pretty radio silent here but still have been listening to loads of great music this year.  Here are a handful of my top releases that have had little to no mention here so far.  My AOTY's would be Priori, CRCxVC-111A, and Tim Reaper/Kloke, but all of these would be right up there.

A lot of people tune out when they hear "dub-techno" but this one someone is detailed in it's simplicity and builds as it goes.  He has released some other great albums this year as well.

Late arriver for end of year lists, but I can easily say it's my ambient album of the year....and I've listened to a lot of ambient this year.

Really immersive ambient/jazz/post rock whatever you want to call it.

Psychedelic in all the best ways.

Unabashed homage to early Underworld that hits me in the feels much more than the new Underworld album.  Just give "New Horizons" a listen at least...

Surprised no-one mentioned this yet.  Banger after banger after banger.

Electro-acoustic braindance, anyone?

The best of his many impressive releases this year.  Ever since hearing Orbus Terrarum and Subliminal Sandwich back in the good ol days, I'm always in search of something to get lost in that takes me to those same places.  This one gets close.

Much like Virgo, Darren Nye has been both at his best and prolific this year.  This collection might be the best of the bunch.

Lost crunchy IDM gems from the archives, all mixed together.

Black Dog have really grown on me in the past few years, and this ambient release of theirs could easily stack up with any on the tastemakers' lists, imo.

Weird dark jazz in the vein of "Music is Rotted..."

Deep dubby ambient trip-hop from here in the Lone Star state.

Dramatic instrumental post-rock of the highest calibre.

Between this, Small Medium Large, Nala, and Ill Considered - for my jazz AOTYs.

Dub 'n breaks from the PNW. Really like all of this guys music.

One for the "Etheric Ambient Glitch" people.  Music is very visual, which makes sense as he is also a professional photographer.

One of the most gifted multi-instrumentalists out there.  Samuel can do so much with so little.

Super under-the-radar collab from two Miami heavyweights - Johnny From Space and Glue Boy.

If you've never heard this masterpiece, this is the way to do it.  Best reissue of the year, hands down.

Anyone here like trance?

How this didn't make many EOY lists is beyond me.  Super heavyweight ep.

Somebody here put me onto Boundary and I can't get enough.

@Extralife yoooo thanks for the heads up that Botany put something out this year! I was out of the loop. Last I heard he was retiring the name and moving on... a pleasant surprise. Gonna listen asap.

Coming back here to mention:

Mk.gee - Two Star & The Dream Police

Mount Kimbie - The Sunset Violent

and the new Aphex compilation too I guess!

Super cool, Species8472 and Extralife pop up on the same day with links to tracks. I'll invest the time and energy into your posts, as I always do. I think I've been concentrating on other things like my fitness and fishing, which has sort of taken over a little tooo much. I also need to find some headphones (earbuds) that I can use on cycle rides without wind distortion.

My fav's

The Mach Hommy album is really nice, also, not a lot of metal for me this year, but the last Fange Ep is great, best french metal band by far.
