Anyone figured out some good ways to control the Sherman via MIDI?

no, actually - i havent used her in a while. but now having got my shit together musically with a decent midi & cv hybrid setup & knowledge i'll do some experimenting

trigger from drum machine audio is standard

making d&b samples for reeses is standard

i know you can do interesting things like turn off the audio triggering via midi, so maybe having a cool pattern doing some scifi beats then creatively toggling these would yield good results.

C4 : unblock audio trigger ADSR

C#4 : block audio trigger ADSR

D4 : unblock audio trigger AR

D#4: block audio trigger AR

F#4: normal trigger ADSR

A#4: normal trigger AR

G#4: normal trigger both

F4: trigger ADSR with speeded-up (*) attack

G4: forced gate-off ADSR with speeded-up (*) release

A4: trigger AR with speeded-up (*) attack

B4: forced gate-off AR with speeded-up (*) release

you can also do filter 1 cutoff via pitchbend, which was very good foresight, so set the second filter to track and make some melodies

Yeah, I know what you mean about the PCM lala, It sort of penetrates the sound rather than laying over the top like alot of units. I like it though.

compact -trying to imagine a 32 channel longass desk in a smallish room was a bit much

i dont know much about consoles and part of me was a bit like 'well, if midas are good enough for Syro'

ah yeah cool. Midas is behringer though ;) but, yeah Midas are meant to be really nice sounding, solid desks. Mixers are not something I know alot about though. I had a Behringer Xenyx for years and it did it's job for the level I was at.

I just use a noisy little Tascam as it's warm and snuggly.

yeah i know they are behringer, but the venice is a midas design being made in china - not sure if the newer ones are going to be bad or what. apparently the newer behringer mixers are made a lot better than the older stuff

They are really nice, but the clip LED on the amp is a bit distracting, although helpful I suppose.

Had KRK and Alesis monitors before and would make the cones on them wobble like fuck without caring because there was no LED telling me it was bad.

The acoustics in this new place aren't great as you can probably tell. Only moved in there in September. Still better than not being able to make music because of noise problems after I just moved into the apartment I'm in now. The place I was before for about 3 years was amazing, but had really bad mold problems so had to leave.

That new studio is in an old mill. Most of the other rooms are band practise spaces. The fucking shite I have to listen to is ridiculous, luckily when sat infront of the monitors I don't really hear them.

I'm on an iPad and a bit smashed too so sorry if that reads weird

When I say distracting I mean it's annoying because it clips at levels MUCH lower than what I was used to with my previous monitors.

Which I suppose what I'm saying is that I like being oblivious to the damage I'm doing to my monitors haha.

The reason I replaced my KRK's was because they started to sound a bit shit (after about 3 years) and I like getting used to new monitors and a new room at the same time.
