95% there. I think  I need to build some scatter face diffusers to put on top of the bottom parts of the bass traps, the on the huge trap between the monitors and on the cloud, to reinject a bit of livelyness in the room.

I rebuild mine a few weeks ago.   for 2 years it's been at a friend's house, and then 2 more years It was all packed in cases, coz  I moved from one place to antother and had to get some work in the new house before I can set it up again.

that's in a basement  . walls looks wet and moldy due to poor photo quality , but that's safely clean and dry.

and I can crank it LOUD without having anyone complaining. so now.... BACK IN THE BUISNESS

but in all seriousness its cool to have a minimal setup but focus on the acoustics. seems like the most important part and people often forget that.

this setup looks like the ultimate 2001 rig (i know there's some newer stuff in there). the thinkpad-esque laptop running the NM editor takes me back. also digging the electribes. a friend had the red one in high school and i was always interested in it but never bought one. needs a yamaha a-series sampler tho! or at least some rack mounted sampler. I dont know what all of those rack units are

haha yeah pretty old school set-up (I mean not early 90's setup but mid - 2000's setup)

yeah not being buying new gear since last 12 years (more or less), exeption for the TR6-S, wich is for use in livesets, to replace the old korgs ER-1 / ES-1. I just plug them korgs to rip old patterns I had into it but it won't be used a lot in the future.   (though the ER-1 has such a special thing I migh still use it in a studio situation) TR6-S is great.

also,,fun you could see those details coz the photo is pretty blurry. actually the yamaha thing is not a sampler, it's an old fx device (spx 990) wich I got from free from somewhere, but I tried it, and will not using it coz it's really cheap and make no sense for fx coz I got much better stuff around so it won't be in use. I'm not using any VST for sources or FX right now (wierdly, becaue there's lot of amazing suff right now).... but i'm used to use this setup and don't have time to learn new sofwtare stuff,   the little time I have for music I'll just use what I have here because I know how it works and I'm fine with it.  I just use a very bit of VST for last-step mastering like the L2 lmiter + a bit of eq... all takes are 2-tracks recording, no multitrack post-mixing,   very limiting but that's what I am. can't get arsed to spend too much time on the laptop screen.  (appart from sequencinng midi notes and make nord patches)

can give you full list if you wish. the rack in the middle is only analogue compression devices. the one on the right is fx devices + a waldorf micro Q rackmount + rme fireface 800 + midi device.

I'm slowly getting to understand the room better, despite the fact that I've had the Amphions for 8 or 9 years now. The most crucial difference is that I might be pushing listening levels a bit higher than I used to because of the dryness of the room, hence the need for a bit of diffusion.
If it's of any help to anyone, here's the design I'm going to build : https://www.musiccityacoustics.com/diy-scatter-face

@exitonly to me it's all about monitoring and acoustics indeed. I have an amazing toolkit and set of instruments ITB, Push 3 is fabulous when it comes to workflow, so it's really about what I hear. Not to mention even mastering, even though I've learnt the Audeze in between studios and now enjoy mastering with them a lot.

@Squee it's pretty small, 4m * 2m50 * 2m50 with a slightly sloped ceiling, hence the idea to put as much absorbers as I could in the room. there are some slight dips in the lows (I've worked with much more) but the decay of the room is so even across all the spectrum, I guess that should do nicely. I'm considering the eventuality of trying another set of monitors in here instead of my beloved Amphions though, as of now they feel brighter than they used to in my former room(s).

That's very identical to my studio.
I have a pretty big dip around 80hz right in my listening position which is super frustrating. In my old studio I had an even bigger dip in the low end, but somehow the low end was a lot more apparent there than in the new studio. Super frustrating and I'm not sure what to do about it... apart from moving further back of course. But that would take up a LOT of the remaining free space I have in my studio.

84Hz here 😉 if possible, have you tried getting your monitors closer to the front wall ?

Unfortunately, I can't push them up against the bass traps further than this. My studio desk is pretty wide, and I'm actually considering getting a smaller desk to make more room for the speakers, because as you can see they are actually lodged into my absorbers on my walls.

Also, pay no attention to the fact that the textile is all messy and the wood hasn't been painted. I set up my studio 1 week before my daughter arrived and I haven't had time to fix all the cosmetics since then, haha... it's been over a year now.

EDIT: I should clarify. The speakers are on speaker stands even though it looks like they're placed on the desk. But they're hovering over the edge of the desk juuuuust slightly.

An old photo but you can probably see it better here. (the hooker lights were only on for the photo. Promise.)
