TubularCorporation
I think I posted cable photos many pages earlier in this thread already, actually. In the next couple years I hope to figure out a more permanent living situation where I can really dig in with actual acoustic treatment and build myself a custom desk for controllers and stuff like that, and when that happens tohope I can hook up all the outputs from the s5000 and the old mpc to some kind of passable old 24 channel mixer (8 outs for the mpc and 16 for the s5000) and just produce stuff on them and do dub mixes for a while. ignatius 1 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide TubularCorporation's signature Hide all signatures Lagoon City (from here to eternity/when I'm sick of it) Codemus2x43 (2013-14) Golfhammer 40,000 (2014-15) Tubular Corporation (2016-17) THawkins' archive of our livestreams since 2020 Instagram (new releases, music bullshit, non-music bullshit and sometimes photos of my lunch) Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/11459-studio-pics/page/189/#findComment-2747715 Share on other sites

I have a 1080 and it's quick and fun to program it from the panel, but one of the major upgrades they made with the 2080 was giving it a big screen like yours has and making it a lot easier to navigate. I've never used any Roland ROMpler newer than the 1080 but if it's even more intuitive than that you probably don't need an editor for it. It seems like it's essentially a 2080 with more samples, upgraded effects, 24 bit outputs and a mod matrix. That sounds pretty excellent to me. Expand That might be possible, although for now I feel the editing is insane menu diving. And I usually use the thing in the performance mode, where (I think) it's not really possible edit individual parts/patches in depth. Also I think the main rotary selector knob got dinged in transit when moving back to Europe. I want to figure out a good rack enclosure thing for my desk so I can have the XV-5080 and MS2000R set up in a more accessible and hands-on way. I had some time yesterday to move my speakers in a better position but that absolutely destroys how I had the other stuff set up on the table. Time to start up the DIY I guess. b born droid
We're currently trying to recable our main studio at work as we've changed the setup over the past few years and it can only be described as an absolute fucking ballache. Literally pulling out cables that are attached to fucking nothing. At some point we're probably going to rip everything out and just wire up the whole studio again. The result will be pornographic and immensely satisfying but the thought of actually doing it makes me wants to cry. TubularCorporation
It's a Linnstrument, took me most of 2018 to put aside enough to get it. I've been using it for just about everything since I'm not so great at keyboard but I'm decent at guitar so it feels pretty natural. I wish the step sequencer had more pattern locations and some kind of simple song mode because it's actually really fun to work with, but Linn hates step sequencers so having one at all. The playability is great, it's like playing a cross between a lap steel and a violin kind of, but it's really its own thing. I don't have any MPE compatible instruments but even sending standard MIDI or loading the same patch on 16 different channels in a multitimbral module works really well. Since mid February, I've been getting the parts to build a Kijimi to pair with it. I'm hoping I can get the last of the parts by the end of December and have it built by February, and at that point I'm done getting stuff for quite a long time, and will just focus on recording stuff and getting better at the Linnstrument (which is basically what I've been doing for the last year anyhow). If anything I'll be selling some stuff off. It was absolutely worth the money I don't really have most of the time (most of the stuff in that photo was cheap finds, trades or literally found in the trash - there's only one thing in the rack on the right that was more than $25 and it's not the reel to reel). Guest
Awesome, thanks for your response. I was looking at Kijimi too, but I'd have to sell my only synth (sequential PX) to get it, and I am starting to really like the X. The demos of Kijimi I've heard are excellent, and the modulation section is incredible for an all analog signal path, really my cup of tea. By the way, it seems like Linn is working on a LinnDrum sequel: Edited October 30, 2019 by Guest Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/11459-studio-pics/page/189/#findComment-2749832 Share on other sites

Guest
My Soundcraft MTK12 is off to be repaired again (the second time in a year one of the inputs gave out - luckily it's still under warranty). So I present to you: "look at this f*ing hipster". I think I might actually keep it this way for a while. The Analog 4 can control the Eurorack, Eurorack output can go into Analog 4 which can go into Analog Rytm so 2 audio inputs is currently quite enough unless I want to play bass or I decide I miss my Blofeld and want to hook it back up. Guest
LOL it was actually the most cost effective solution. Underneath is bare concrete and underneath that damp soil, so any other kind would collect moisture and rot away in a year. Wooden veranda tiles don’t have this problem. Yeah I was purposefully trying to get everything in synch, which I managed to do with the Hosa Knucklebone, so very useful. In the photo you have: Kick going into the Neutron with a generative "Krell" patch feeding into the Boss Super Octave then the Pladask Eletrisk Fabrikat (algorithmic granuliser) Bottom left chain is a weird spring machine I made, with a pickup attached to a piece of slate that I can scrape with a nail. Into a distortion, fuzz and a obne black fountain delay pedal chain. Sounds hideous right? Can make some pretty wicked drones with this. Right of the mixer is a clarinot clone pedal (lo-fi loop / scrapes / weird percussion) going into the Moody Sounds baby box which is a weird delay / feedback / noise / dunno unit that I love / loathe in equal measures. Fairly unpredictable and HOT but a fun hands on box of tricks to play with. Finally, top left box is a Blackstar Tube Reverb - nice warm reverb sounds. I have this going through the aux loop of the mixer Basically, a big fucking noise. Sometimes it sounds great, sometimes its all too chaotic but I have a good time trying to keep control of it all.
