Studio Pics

Found a local recycling centre. Think I might pop down there on Sunday and see if there are any office chairs!

We bought a 2+1 flat, so the options are either the bedroom (boooourns), or the living room (wife will complain about a mess). There is a little cellar room I might colonize, but I'm not sure how secure it is down there. :( I need to rent a garage or something someplace.

My studio is in a 6'x8' converted laundry room - basically a closet.

Not the best for mixing.

ya I wouldn't mind the small space, i would however mind popping in to find the room empty of computers and synths.... D:

Maybe I'll just get some gorilla lock and build some kind of security system with arduino...

Thanks man. It's a Yamaha CBX-K1. I don't think they make them anymore.

I'm not sure how much they've sold on Juno yet. It seems to be available at a lot of other sellers though.

Prices of mp3s need to come down seriously. No offence intended but in the age of the digital people selling mp3s for same as hard formats is just dumb.

Okay, not to brag or anything but I recorded a video of the Fenix II in action a while ago, I thought some people on this forum might be interested given the obvious Fenix / AFX connection. Three oscillators through the formant filter in this example, which I believe is one of its most unique sounds:

Sites like Juno seem to cater to DJs who require high quality mp3s - 320 kbps or wav. Not sure who would pay $1.50 USD for 192 kbps.

There are cheaper sites like iTunes where you can get $.99 USD mp3s that are VBR I think.

I'm old, so I still buy vinyl or CDs.

Yeah I'm thinking about even cheaper prices like 10-15p for a tune and a £1 for an album or ep. I think at that price it would stop a lot of piracy.

Digital downloads should indeed be cheaper than tangible formats as they're cheaper to mass produce, but they still cost a bit to make that initial first master! Music's starting to become available more and more in lossless, DRM-free downloadable formats, which are perfect and all you could ask for. It's more books, films and TV shows that I'm worried about. Hardly any companies seem willing to put those in a DRM-free format, and until they do, the pirates have a superior product. Having said that, I think charging merely £1 for an album devalues it, giving the music fan the impression (rightly or wrongly) that the artist and record label don't think the music's worth any more, presumably because it isn't that good. It's a strange and interesting fact of life that the price of a product reflects not just how much it's objectively worth, but also the image the company wishes to portray. Making certain products more expensive can actually increase their sales as their elusive "quality," something impossible to actually quantify, is perceived as being greater even though nothing else has changed, just the price.

haha I am my programmer. I'm already planning a wireless system between the flat and the cellar so I can know if someone goes in, and also send messages between. :braindance:
