Aphex Twin Played at the wrong speed

Recommended Posts

How many of you have, at some point in time, played Aphex at the wrong speed ? I've done it with the Caustic Window compilation as well as the Two remixes release. So i'm fucking dork right ? Well here's some news, they both sound infinitely better at 33 rpm. The problem lies in me being a bit anal retentive or some thing perhaps a bit more related to Carl Jung's ideas. Whenever I play these records at the wrong speed it is quite pleasing to the ear, however in the back of my head i have an internal dialouge that's telling me I'm a bad boy. Has this ever happend to anyone else ?

loads of drukqs sounds good at different speeds - not just at 33 & 45 RPM, also at lots of speeds in between ;)

then again, there is no such thing as 'wrong speed', one of the key features of vinyl is imo that it is very flexible when playing, unlike cd.. so if the guy who made the music decides he want to have his tracks pressed to vinyl, he should know that his 'original' track will be played in loads of different ways..

finger bib(f*ck) is amazing slowed down. try your own speeds

half the fun of electronic music on vinyl is that it often works at both speeds

ventolin remixes and side d of throbbing pouch are particularly good
