he once wrote that he isn't the notorious tricky dicky, but who knows (and who cares)

nah i dont think he is, he seems far too sane. doesnt write cunt and mate in every sentence

haha wtf that dude has like 4 PPGs?!

still... hmm no i'm actually not sure whose setup i like better...

and i don't think mr rich is rdj, his studio is far too tidy - don't you think?

Guest Dr. Elemeno von Hat X: PhD

i do indeed think mr. rich is not aphex, i didn't see any TR-*'s, no samplers, and only macs (doesn't richard like vaio laptops?)

plus, i bet aphex has a lot more than even that - that super rare, and huge yamaha thingy that he mentioned in his That Other Site™ posts? lots more effects processors? a kaoss pad or something?

also, i'm not the world authority on gear, but i didn't see much for samplers or drum machines there in general. also minimal computer stuff.

of course... maybe he's playing a joke on everyone, and it's his 'backup' studio or something.

all that having been said... i wonder who mr. rich actually is! if he said, i might order a CD, just to see what all that gear sounds like.

waveterm's setup, on the other hand... looks a bit more aphex. still likely not, though.

actually 5 PPGs! :|

i don't think aphex has THAT much stuff in his studio... i mean he surely has ENOUGH but probably not as much as mr rich or waveform.

Guest Dr. Elemeno von Hat X: PhD

seriously? i presumed he'd have a room as densely packed as that, just... five times as large. i can't think of why on earth he _wouldn't_ collect synths... but yeah, maybe he doesn't keep them all set up in his studio.

you all need to post more PICTURES of what you want. this is all about gear porn, innit? (i find myself starting to use that word... damn you brits)

some more synths i want:

- Access Virus

access_virus_c.jpg

- Novation Supernova II

supernova-sned.jpg

- Korg Wavestation

wavestat.jpg

- Yamaha DX7

yamaha-dx7-oscilloscope.jpg

- Memorymoog, Multimoog... some sort of Moog!

memorymoog.jpg

- MS20

ms20.gif

- a nice custom modular, with some esoteric modules

Edited by Dr. Elemeno von Hat X: PhD

Just a hodge-podge modular system that I plan on making when Im older. That I plan on getting. And maybe some really basic two-osc analog poly/mono synth. Nord modular. Besides that in software(Vaz modular, Massive(maybe?), tassman). I just bought Reaktor 5(yay). Im pretty much content otherwise. Oh yeah, most importantly a faster computer.

Aphex has a world class collection of some of the most obscure and desirable synths in the world.

Including

Yamaha GX-1

04.jpg

Peavey Paradox (only 12 in existence) "Best synch sound" - RDJ

pic1.jpg

Buchla 200E

Buchla200.jpg

Synton Fenix

EMS Vocoder 5000

etc etc etc

yeah i know aphex has those (okay i didn't know about the peavey - i didn't even know peavey made a synth)... hehe GX-1 is a monster!

i do know that EDMX borrows his EMS vocoder :)

well, those are like the showpieces, but he also has a whole lot of 2nd division vintage stuff, like CS30, CS5, modulars for Africa, all the Rolands, etc. It's not just that he bought all the dream synths cos he could afford it, motherfucker has a COLLECTION.

Plus, I'm PRETTY sure I read that he has an EMS Synthi 100...

i wonder who's Synthi 100 this is

Synthi 100 (give me 60 thousand dollars now)

isn't it rumored that there's only 2 in existence that actually work in full function?

1 owned by Meat Beat Manifesto

and the other by RDJ?

there's way more than 2 in existence. Apperently, they require loads of maintenance (more than an average vintage synth)...

""This one is in xtremely good condition (BTW:there are way more than 3 funktional)and more as 24 build to. The matrixes are as new on this one. Amazing Its very confusing to patch this monster,I don’t like it at all,if you like to patch analog computers, you will be happy to work with this synth. The sound is identically to an AKS. Perhaps I could buy this one for 16000$ or so,but im not interested to do the effort, and BTW iv not the place at home! Note that it seems (and also on this model) the sequencer never have working correctly (on any models) The guy told me that when the have buy the instrument new I din’t worked, and a few times (on request) a tec from EMS have come on location to try fix it,but never was able to. The second pic matrix is from the synth museum book." Check out the books on the right pane of this site for the Museum of Synthesizer Technology."
