i don't use software to make music.

so what do you do for reverb then? record your stuff playing on a system in a certain space? because that requires a microphone, which would still be paying for reverb. I suppose thats also paying for recording too. but then the system, that costs money as well. but you could be getting access to all this for free so maybe you're just spoiled. some rich kid who owns his own island full of caves and several mansions made of various substances chosen for how they reflect sound and shit. well then ladi da richie rich, but some of us were only born into familes where the income was in the low 6 figures range. so we have to spend 600 dollars on software.

i really don't even know what I'm talking about anymore. but what do you do for reverb?

When you pay the $600 you're paying mostly for all those countless impulses that you can download from their site as a registered user. It costs a lot of money to make impulse files that don't suck balls.

You wouldn't catch me paying 600 bucks for anything music related

much less a reverb

for real

the best reverb in the world can not be worth SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS

most good reverbs are hardware units costing over $2,000. $600 isn't shit, especially not for something this good.

this is like saying "the best car in the world cannot be worth two thousand dollars".

i use software for reverb.

you misunderstood my post, but i don't like to nitpick.

no worries man. :D

You're deaf, you don't care about quality reverb because you've probably never heard it being used or at least haven't actively listened to what it does for the immersion of a track. Though I guess this is an electronic music board where awkward lifeless synthetic sounds shat out by Fruity Loops in the name of "experimentation" are accepted as innovative.

Mate who the fuck are you?

Wisp is bigger than you, shit I'm lame and I'm bigger than you, and we're both fruity heads

Know what makes the difference?

We make music that's fun to listen to and wer're not fucking overpretentious about it like you seem to be

Learn to have fun without jerking off over dsp modulation

and thusly, I'd probably say learn to write tunes

but myself and no one I know has heard your punk ass

so stop mouthing off from the benches

Oh yeah and innovation and good tunes are like two circles in a venn diagram, they intersect but are not one and the same. I'll explain this further if you need me to.

TWO POINTS

*I'm not speaking for Wisp, he can and has voiced his own arguments

*Don't misinterpret my original post as anti hardware, I just ain't payin 600 busks for a fucking reverb.

lighten up dudes! musicians should stick together, i think.

at the risk of hijacking the thread a tad, i'd like to state that from the only two Orubasarot tracks i've heard about a year or so ago, the sound quality was indeed spectacular. i don't remember connecting to the composition personally, (violins and breaks) but it was ace stuff nonetheless. you really should post more.

and as for Orange Dust and Wisp, those guys are fuckin' amazing, and i don't care what anyone has to say about it. my skull is swept to pluto when i hear their tracks.

my point is, there's no reason to make comparasins. all this negativity is so disgusting.

i suppose i could mention that i'm sort of bored, and that i do realize that typing something like this may be futile...

the internet is a very silly place, but it's even sillier when great minds like these are just typing angry words at eachother.

Don't even bother I know who he is he's theocide's mate and he doesn't know shit, his tunes are talentless fucking tripe and pretty much everyone else here pisses over him, he has emotional problems and has spend the time up until now asking US to help HIM how to write tunes.

everyone knows you don't know shit and you're a fucking pathetic poser.

the only effects you use are reverb and mastering? holy szhit no wonder you hold it so dear to your heart you fucking chew toy jesus christ i mean seriously.

go write some innovative breakcore, dumb fucking pathetic piece of shit hahahah

I'm not retracting this shit either, you act like a dick you get burned, now fuck off and don't come back

Reverb is a superb tool and a high quality reverb makes ALL the difference. Imagine some of the stuff off Amber with a poor quality reverb. It's be worthless.

Admittedly with stuff like breakcore you can get away with using precious little or none at all, but $600 for a reverb is perfectly acceptable if it's good enough and you're writing in a style that requires huge spacious reverb like Ambient or light electronic music.

It's like compression, it can make every single difference in the world when used right.

Orubasarot was out of order saying "you're deaf" etc but he didn't quite deserve the beatdown he got in my opinion.

Beating on Floops was a bit harsh too. While I find floops not to my taste I know that, like pretty much every host program these days, you can create high quality output with it.

so yeah, how about that reverb. it sure is great.

so you use altiverb? nudge nudge wink wink say no more

it's funny that a thread i started about how good a fucking reverb plug in is turned into this.

jesus christ people.

people ripping on eachothers music and shit, trying to prove who's right.

and in all fairness, beauty is still in the eye of the beholder, some people find breakcore boring, some people find aphex worship electronic music boring, some people like both, some people hate both, who fucking cares as long as you like what you're doing? musical worth is still just opinion, not fact. ease up.

i think that the reverb on autechre´s amber is an alesis quadraver, that is a very cheap reverb.

meh. i never heard any music from any musician that was better in any way, because it uses better - more costly - more realistic shit. yeah it sounds better but so what? you can have a 50.000 studio and make the worst music in the world. some people rock my world with just a shitty acoustic.

i don't know man, i certainly couldn't say that jimi hendrix on a shitty toys r us built in speaker $59 guitar would sound anywhere near as good as he did on mid 60's strats through marshall plexi's.

no, better equipment does not mean you write better music, but better equipment does however tend to sound better than shittier equipment, and while writing music on shitty equipment works for some people (kurt cobain played mostly shitty japanese strat knockoffs on nirvana's nevermind for example) it doesn't work this way for everyone, and yes most people do sound better on better equipment. that's just how it is.
