Boards of Canada Don't panic...

Ok so at the moment this is purely speculative, but it still gets me very excited. All Tomorrow's Parties festival is holding an "ATP versus the fans" weekend ( http://www.atpfestival.com/events/vs-the-fans/ ) at Butlins Minehead in May next year. The major selling point of this is that each person who buys a ticket gets some votes as to who they would like to play at the festival. The organisers then approach the most voted for artists and invite them to perform at the weekend. Of course a lot of these names will not be able to/want to agree to play, however maybe if there is enough public demand, certain artists (cough BoC cough) may appreciate how genuinely eager the festival goers would like to see them play. ATP is a quality festival regardless, I am going to the first weekend next year, maybe this one as well. Anyone else going?

Also the organisers have a good track record of managing to get elusive artists to put in very rare appearances. Seeing as they managed to reunite Captain Beefheart's Magic Band for a festival appearance a couple of years ago, one would think anything is possible... Plus BoC played the same festival a few years ago so this may encourage them to make a return

BoC were awesome at ATP 2001

Aphex Man and BOC, makes me want to move to the U.K. There's not a lot of Decent bands in the U.S. Just Kid 606, Datach'i and Binarpilot. Unless i'm forgetting a good one.

well I wouldn't hold your breath...

but if they got half those bands it would be a pretty nice lineup.

but now I'm moving to australia for a year, it would be just my luck for them to tour and make me fly halfway around the world to see them. of course, I still would. but man, that'd be expensive...

in regards to godspeed, way to vote for a band who unofficially disbanded several years ago

If they can reunite the magic band, they can reunite GYBE. Anyway, they're only 'on a hiatus'.

You're looking at the confirmed line-up so far, not the voting leaderboard. Btw, BoC are now at number 13 so they've shot up 2 spaces. Basically the organisers will approach them soon, then it's up to BoC themselves whether or not they want to play.

Akron/Family are quite good aswell.

Well, I'm not going to buy a ticket on the off-chance that BOC win and agree to play. If the rest of the line-up was up my alley then all well and good but it's a bit tenuous. I'll be pissed off if they play this and this only though (that's a big if anyway).

well as its been BoC have every year been on the invite list. and word is, have yet to ever even acknowledge the invite. unless its conformed...they aint playin'

I was thinking about going to this but the I didn't trust a bunch of indie facists to pick a decent line up. Glad i made the right decision as i see a lot of artists who i would love to see are on the unavailable list.
