Autechre Autechre's absolute best track ever?

My personal favorite track ever made by Autechre has to be Lentic Catachresis, the last track from Confield. I love it so much! It is insanely abstract and the last 5 minutes of messy nonsense glitchy rush are totally awesome and the background melody makes this beautiful! That track revolutionized their way to making music, in my opinion.

honestly i think its silly to try and pick a "best track" for any artist. not only does your answer depend on who you are, but what mood/situation you're in at the time. i'm surprised there hasn't already been an argument.

well i think its good to see what people say if anyone likes the earlier melody stuff or the later who knows what it is stuff or the bit inbetween. i reckon the bit inbetween is what most people like

Pro Radii probably. Just sounds so different from a lot of their tunes. Structured amazingly. Dunno, just really does it for me.

Wow. I'm really glad Laughing Quarter is a popular one. Unbelievable track. Almost like a darker, more industrial version of Second Scepe....which is definitely up there as well.

But of all the things Autechre have done, the material have been churning out over the untilted tour is possibly my favourite. The incredibly addictive opening beat, the nasty distorted melody about 6-7 minutes in, the kickass thumping change at 11 mins in, and the sublime climax at 40 mins in. FUCKING AMAZING.

But, I could really never pin down my favourite AE tune. So I'll give you a random 10....

i feel the same. pointless exercises. possibly more interesting when a thread is about a specific track, but when it's an open ended postathon about something like this i don't see the point. I consider myself a serious ae fan, and listen to almost all of their released material regularly but still couldnt even begin to decide which track was 'their best ever'.

but since im here, off the top of my head i'd probably plump for my usual Ae spiritual home - Drane.

But if if pushed to be definite, I'd probably constantly chop and change my mind around 10 or 12 tracks.
