More not-obscure-around-here albums:

...

Brian eno - neroli

...

this is great. one of the better long-form ambient pieces I've heard. I like to put it on at loud volume when I'm in the shower.

A recent Shackleton vinyl spurge.... Lovely

Also picked up some CDs:

Get Lost 7 mixed by Craig Richards

Wiggle 20 years (terry Francis, Nathan Coles and Eddie Richards)

The last albums I bought are:

Aphex Twin - Syro: Absolute brilliance. I've said enough about it in the main thread.

Interpol - El Pintor: I am one of the few people who actually really liked the previous album and was looking forward to the new one, and boy, am I pleased. El Pintor is their best album in years. I like every song on the album enough to listen to each multiple times. They sound quite reinvigorated. I do miss Carlos D's bass playing, but Paul does a good job in his stead. One of my favorite records this year.

Phantogram - Voices: This is a group that I really loved when they first came out. Eyelid Movies and Nightlife EP are exemplary, but.... I can't get into this album. There are a few good ones, such as Nothing But Trouble and Howling at the Moon, but the majority of it seems kind of lifeless. I don't know, perhaps I need more time with it. I'm going to see them live next week. Chances are that experience will help me enjoy the record more.

Today I picked up two I'd been meaning to get on vinyl for a while:

Earth - The Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull... the packaging is beautiful

R-1531201-1235255491.jpeg

and Teebs - Ardour

R-2486394-1312626804.jpeg

Bought and DL'd Frequencies and Advance by LFO today, for obvious reasons.

To keep it real and analog, I'm gonna start posting to WATMM by writing my posts in fountain pen on hemp paper, putting them in bottles, and throwing them into the ocean.

A couple surprise pickups today. I figured they were good enough to warrant bringing them home on my bike, haha.

Picked up the YMO Technodon Remixes this week (also a Japanese release obvs) - all the tracks involve Paterson/Weston of Orb fame so it's a gorgeous, chilled ambient-fest
