They're both fucking boring! Half ass albums...meh!

It's true! I listened to some samples before I bought it and I seemed to enjoy what I heard, but it's just pure loops... maybe I should have another listen, but I was fairly disappointed by the first listen.

Glad you posted that actually. Was going to buy it on recommendations of others but sounded a bit boring from the samples I heard. Now I have comfirmation.

yeah, granted, dropsonde can be pretty minimal... but it isn't 'pure loops'.. lots of stuff happening.. although not in the way you'd expect it to happen..

and yeah, tracks like 'sherbrooke' are heavily loop-based.. but more Frippertronics-loop style, building thick soundscapes with lots of (live recorded-) loops.. and then there's the jazzy, percussion-based tracks...

its one of the best albums i've heard so far this year.. it sounds like a sparkling shade of grey or brown.. sometimes bright yellow... i'd even dare to say that 'warmed by the drift' is one of the best tracks i've ever heard... and as a whole, listening to it from beginning 'till end, this album is just stunning...

I'll give it another try tonight then...

good idea.. btw, do you have the vinyl or the cd release?

because the vinyl version lacks alot of tracks.. and doesn't flow as nicely as the cd version IMO..
