what's the 8-track for Chris>?

wel, its to record on - on project 168 im using it to record on rather then crappy tape quality tape back into digital crap.

i couldnt route my 303 and 707 ect; back into my laptop and record it like a feedback loop. horrible noise happens...

as all of my tunes are done live its alot easier to record on the 8 track then record from the 8 track into my computer [audactiy]

so yah it's basically to record everything that comes out my mixer.

im sure somehow i could use it as somthing esle as well it's got a midi out and digital out.. so i could use it as a sampler or someshit.. but thats just doing a job that could be done 4 times as easy in ableton

yeah we totally will conquer. you will say, "Mr. Jigzmo may i transfer some musical recordings on to your wonderous 8 track? so that they may be preserved for posterity?"

and i shall answer, "Why of course my dear Mr. Labyrinths. i will even have a CD of said recordings made so that you may furnish your cd player with it!!"

and then we will laugh and chortle and drink a little wine and maybe even smoke some angel dust after we sacrifice the virgin and unholy black chicken [later to be made into chicken-virgin soup].

At the moment, the 3 computers I use for music are connected through Midi. Not the best, but for what I need it is ample. Half the time I don't need the Mac laptop or LinuxSampler PC though so they are turned off so not to make too much noise!

The servers and internet PC are there for storage (Subversion & Samba) and connecting to websites, trying to keep the music stuff clean. I would love to hook everything up with Ethernet (obviously used for general networking duties at the moment) with control transmitted over that..

Home built PC

Powerbook G4 [for gigs]

KORG Electribe SX

Oxygen 8 midi controller

Mackie Micro [mixer]

Fruity Loops+ tons of VST's

2 Double Basses

2 Bass guitars

I don't have enough room in my apartment for a lot of synths, but once I have the cash I'm going to start buying rackmounts.

I record at my friend's house a lot, and let me tell you, it's a joygasm. Keyboards as far as the eye can reach.

Not really. One of them has a really high action, so it hurts to play, and the other I leave at school so I don't have to take it there every day. I have sampled some, though. My style doesn't really cater too well to acoustic sounds.
