The Tuss - Rush Up Edge CAT189CD/LP

Oh, how Richard and co. love to stick it to the fans (first Smojphace, then the Analord binder, then the Tuss EP with a unique vinyl-only track), and the tradition continues with the The Tuss LP - 6 tracks spread across 3 slabs of vinyl - one track per side! No word yet on if one or several of the vinyl tracks are unique to that format or not.

  Quote
‘Rushup Edge’ is the debut album of new Rephlex artists, “The Tuss”, a dynamic duo discovered via intensive MySpace exploration by the A&R department. Apparently touted by Planet Mu, XL Recordings, Record Makers and Ninjatune all at the same time, they eventually decided to sign with Rephlex for reasons of principle. The label is very excited to find an act with this degree of promise and hope to be releasing even more work soon.

The Tuss’ official line seems inspired by the time FFRR signed Chicago house legend Lil Louis’ smash hit “French Kiss”, even though they had no information about him at all at the time! The Tuss offers little biographical info, preferring to concentrate on the musical merits, which they describe as ‘Braindance’. Rephlex don’t really mind too much but hope to acquire some photographic evidence soon – watch this space!

2 x IC1 White - North European

D.O.B’s: 18/03/1980 & 13/08/1976

The album features 6 tracks featuring a unique blend of head music and dance vibes, everything from classic techno to modern funk, gabba, ambient and classical influences.

"Decided to sign with rephlex for reasons of Principle ? "

I heard that Tuss were gonna insert a Flexi disc in next months Mad Magazine.

Of course not - it's all bollocks and marketing... they're fooling no one by saying it's somebody other than Richard, and this "photographic evidence" will probably be another Brad Strider/Manuel Sepulveda fiasco.

what was that ?

[climbs on soapbox]

Well, before I broke the story back in '99 that Brad Strider was in fact Richard's alias and the Beat and Robot EPs were his stuff, Rephlex made it out that Manuel Sepulveda, a graphic designer, was the artist behind the EPs, and even went as far as having pictures of him to back it up as the Brad Strider persona. I was even told privately that it was Richard's equipment but Manuel actually doing the music, but turned out not to be true at all.

Interestingly, Manuel did the design work for the Drukqs promotion as well as a few other releases:

I for one could care less about all this “is the Tuss Aphex” talk… In my opinion Aphex’s idea to hid behind all these monikers is getting really old and boring. If he would just release good music under his name or Afx that would suit me just fine. Don’t get me wrong, the Analord stuff was good… but the Tuss, if it is him, is really boring Analord wantabe shit.

you know, i was just thinking, if "tuss" is cornish slang for a hardon, methinks the tuss is a proper vehicle for some good ol fashioned down-home sticking.

supermasochist bob flanagan, when asked why he does things like nail his dick to a board (complete with 13 heavy duty giant carpenting nails)---- "because i can"

methinks that's the philosophy between the enigma inherent to all things tuss.

AIN'T NO ENIGMA WITH ME, BITCH, YOUSE GETTIN YOU SOME TUSS TONIGHT MM-HMM YES YOU ARE#!%$#@$%@

with this much scrutiny over a release that "may be" richard , i wouldn't be surprised if he never released anything as aphex twin again. it's not the "hiding behind monikers" that is boring - it's the multiple 5 page threads discussing it.

listen to music.

the only thing that makes me sure this is aphex twin is that this is coming out with one track per record side, and one of these tracks is like 4 minutes long (rounding up). thats pretty FUCKING LOUD RECORDS.
