well, it's good...but not radiohead good

scratch that..it's much better on the 2nd..and the 3rd play

it just doesn't come as surprising and unpredictable as kid a did..but there are so many subtleties that lift it to a higher level, it's so laid back and pleasant..definitely the easiest rh album. guitars are great too, in arpeggi especially..

arpeggi/weird fishes is so so fucking good

I guess I'm gonna have to wait for my box set before I hear it in >160kbps glory. It feels like it deserves it.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

yeah, just about to give it a third spin. on the second i decided i loved it.

i realized i missed hearing thom over guitar and drums

Well I think the days of listening to Thom and understand fully the lyrics are over. He is even more falsetto than before, stretching the middle of words like never before, it's not whiny like in the Bends era. It's more of an instrument.

lyrics are nonetheless more coherent than HTTT which was in turn a little more coherent than the two before

although there are two old old songs on this

although not being able to make out the words is not always bad

see 'mumbling' mark hollis' work on talk talk's last two albums

which both do what radiohead are sorta maybe trying to do better than the thom n jonny show

is it worth paying for twice? did any of you actually pay for the mp3s, and are you planning to buy the discbox or cd if it ever comes out?

i will be purchasing the discbox anyways

Its gotten better each time I've listened to it today. I was hoping for something that would be knock my socks off surprising but nope

Reckoner and the first song i think are my favorites so far

I don't really care for lyrics ever so I'm not even paying attention to these.

In this last song, he just sang "yew joo blass ta gee boo laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa". I dunno, this is reinforcing my "eh" toward radiohead with every song.

Ive been waiting for a recorded version of 'Nude' ever since I saw the video of Meeting People Is Easy in 1999. Its damn good but jesus christ 8 years.

The thing I liked most about Kid A was that it seemed to me like lyrics were just an excuse for him to sing. He concentrated more on voice and less on words. Anyone else get this feeling? I have never really cared for his lyrics.

I think there were some good lyrics on OK Computer, but yeah, just because they're indecipherable now doesn't mean that a song should remain instrumental. Anyone remember Cocteau Twins?

Downloaded last night and I have to say, it's sounding very good so far. Don't have any 'favourite' tracks just yet as it's all still setting in, but I like pretty much all of it [APART from Videotape, I'm HUGELY disappointed with this shit performance compared to how it should sound according to some earlier recordings].

Slight badness aside, this is a fucking good album and I'm sure it'll grow on me further still.

I'm just waiting for my discbox to arrive so I can look at the nice new artwork and listen to the bonus tracks, etc.

It's nice to see a return to the older style.

FUCKING LOVE RECKONER.

I feel the tracks could have added 2 minutes each, the endings are often abrupt and don't capitalise on the buildups they have.

And what does Ed O'Brien do anymore? Most of the tracks have only Jonny on it, heck Thom plays guitar too. There's like no tracks with a true lead guitar + rhythm guitar. I guess he does the atmospheric stuff nowadays...

house of cards is the highlight for me. sheer simplicity and beauty... absolutely love it, i own it, its MINE!

on a whole, its very hard for this album to register as anything better than good.... however, this might totally be due to the fact that i had such intense anticipation about what it would sound like.

ESPECIALLY after eraser (which i loved), i thought this was going to just smash the hell out of all boundaries.. instead, this is actually quite tame, as far as i'm reading it right now.

this is after two listens. soooo.... we'll see...

still very happy to have a new radiohead record in my grasps... and even happier to support and witness how they went about it.
