autechre are very solid all through their career

no bad or weak album imo

incunabula is great in its way... and doesnt lack excellent tracks either... but think of it, afterwards amber was to came, and then tri repetae, chiastic, lp5, confield, draft and finally untilted

pure gold

and yes, electronic music needs a change or something drastic to happen soon... it really didnt happen anything important since 2001... and some will say that since 1997

man this makes me so mad. It seems like every week or so some xltroniker comes over to proclaim electronic music is dead. (although some of them permanently rest over here.) electronic music isn't dead. Just the hype. The best electronic music album ever could come out and it wouldn't matter because people like you have it stuck in your mind that if it isn't hyped it must not be that good. What about Draft and Untilted? What about Astrobotnia? What about the freakin Rushup Edge? What about Ceephax? What about Dubstep? What about Chris Clark? What about Venetian Snares? Love them or hate them, all have been wildly innovative and brilliant music making. Just because Aphex Twin doesn't overload us will Drill beats anymore doesn't mean electronic music is dead. electronic music is alive and well. And if you poke your head out of the ground, you would notice it.

And screw all of you who can't take time to just listen to music. You can't possibly comprehend music especially autechre's music unless you give it your full attention. This doesn't mean every time you listen. But seriously. It seems like our generation never listens to music. They just walk around with one freaking earphone in because they like background noise. When you watch Vertigo, you can't expect to comprehend all the subtleties if you are too worried about dropping your meatball sandwich on your shirt. It requires your full attention. Same with intellectual music. Especially with subtle music like autechre. If your going to fully appreciate it, you need to pay attention to it.

Okay, calm down for a second. I said I like to have autechre playing while I'm working. That doesn't mean I can't listen to music by itself. I do especially with autechre because so many of the tracks get so much better if you really try to figure them out. Maybe if people really listened to Untilted they wouldn't hate it so much. Maybe some people would get Confield. Then again, maybe it's just taste.

But, one of the things that I like about autechre is how stimulating the music is, so it is ALSO enjoyable when I'm doing something.

I never listen to music in one earphone while I'm walking around. I do listen to squarepusher in two earphones while I'm working out, but that isn't as bad. Some activities deserve a soundtrack, others do not.

And electronic music isn't dead, electronic music is some of the best music being made currently. The A1-D1 and Rushup Edge are some of my favorite albums. And you're right about Body Riddle, it's solid from beginning to end.

Depends how far you're walking... All my classes are less then a 1 minute walk away, so I don't see the point. If you're going for a walk for the purpose of going for a walk, then it's probably very nice, but I haven't tried it.

Yea this is fair. Sometimes a walking body can often aid in the relaxation and thus success of a thoughtful mind. What just pisses me off is that it seems like nowadays people only listen to music while doing paperwork, or doing homework, or in the car, or on the train, or on the computer, or walking to and from class or their job. It seems like despite their being more music than ever, and more people listening to music than ever, nobody actually takes the time to listen to it.

On the other hand, certain music lends itself to be listened to while being active. For example, I have lots of rock albums that I would never lay down on my bed in the dark and listen to them the way I would Confield. I hate when Confield or certain Draft songs come up on shuffle while I am walking around because then the music just becomes background noise. But I often like to listen to early Aphex while walking on the street.

when did I say in my post that electronic music was dead?

if I remember correctly I only said it needed a change

there is good music done nowadays... but please just take a look at the music released in 1991-2001 and then at the music released since then (and not only electronic music)

and remember we are moving fast towards 2008, we are not in 2003 anymore
