London, September 18th, 2023—Toybox today announced Thump One. The synth plugin has been designed with Toybox’s modular, ‘west-coast’ approach to circuit layout, with gritty oscillators, subtle cross-modulations and high-quality modelling giving the plugin its unique sound.

The synthesiser features two powerful engines that can be layered together for a variety of complex sounds and textures. The ‘Kick’ engine features a great sounding 'wavetable' oscillator, with a set of wavetables created from a selection of clean and processed analog kick drum sounds. The ‘Kick’ engine has a high quality saturation and filtering circuit plus an additional 'Buzz' circuit to add a buzzy ‘broken speaker cone’ effect. The second engine, ‘Layer’ uses an accurate model of the 'supersaw' oscillator found in the Roland JP8000 synthesiser, this oscillator has a selection of operating ‘modes' that configure the oscillator to play in intervals and adds various amounts of modulation to create noisy, retro synth sounds, fuzzy glitches or just plain noise.

Lossy is a nice weird one, the simulated loss of data and reverb are odd yet really cool addition to the lossy codec-like part.

The GoodHertz stuff is great; it's not free but I've found CanOpener invaluable for mixing, especially working in an environment where monitors aren't realistically an option. Their (free) Midside Matrix plugin is useful too.

compressor does sound interesting tho. personally not interested in 3rd party stuff still in dev/testing but yeah, cool sounds

so, kinda doing this on the downlow.. i asked samplephonics to give my library away as a promotional item so people can have it for free but they won't.. even though i haven't made a royalty on it in like 2 years since they don't include in their subscription service for.. reasons i guess.. i don't know.. i have thoughts on that.. it was at one time included as part of that but they took it out of that loop. so it goes.. anyway.. i always wanted it to be free after a certain number of years being for sale.. so, i sent it to a friend to check out and used wetransfer.. so, here's that wetransfer link if you want 1200 one shots for your percussive sound design needs.. it's similar to the UnDo library that i put up on bandcamp (also free) but has a different vibe and there's samples with layered things going on.. 

the "instruments" are just for demoing the sounds in different environments. the idea is to just make your own instruments and stuff.. but if you want to use the included instruments then keep the library in one location so they can reference that folder or else you'll have to search for the sounds every time you load a kontakt or battery kit or whatever.. 

TLDR - bunch of free sounds on the downlow.

Big thanks man! This is ace! Im pretty good at sampling drums I have made on MD, Max and BSII etc but the problem is Im always too lazy to sample alot.
This can be super handy ofc!

I don't know if this is extremely common or not for sampler plug-ins, but I'm looking for one where you can align a point on the sound to where the note starts, but keep the attack and have it play before the note start. This way you could have a transient of a drum play in time, but still have it's attack come before. Anyone know of something? A free plugin?
