Just because most producers don't hire engineers doesn't mean they shouldn't. I am even guilty of this, and there have been times where I've wanted someone to objectively take a look at the data. It can be hard to separate yourself from your music, usually. It just often times costs loads of skrilla unless you know the person and they are willing to cut you a deal.

I would have thought anyone who did any amount of live shows would have damage to their hearing. So they get someone with a better ear.

Moses, i always assume the artist did most of the work themselves. Keeper Of The Hill sounded so epic though, so i was like, no way this guy did this by himself.
