Zephyr_Nova
Still my favorite thing they've done, and I loved Dummy. Didn't care for their second album so much. That one was experimental without being particularly interesting. This one's got it all. I hope I get a chance to see them live. Guest edge
I love The Rip and Deep Water. But the rest seems kind of cheap and nasty to me, especially Machine Gun. Lucas
I wanted to bump the thread because I don't listen to this album too often but every time I do I think it's unique. It's deep, it doesn't care of fitting in any genre, it's sometimes harsh (the cuts in some tracks are great ^^), and also sometimes so sweet. Talking about the band not caring about fitting to a musical genre for the album, I especially love the way they don't give a priority to any instrument. There are just different instruments, voice and guitars and whatever included, and they all play on different levels depending on the song. The incorporation of the electronic sounds is perfect. You don't hear the synths and samples as synths and samples but just as a part of this dark and deep whole. love Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Lucas's signature Hide all signatures antape @ soundcloud Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/30295-portishead-third/page/4/#findComment-1721443 Share on other sites

Candiru
It's seductively creepy, and there needs to be more things like that. I love Dummy and the self titled, but for totally different reasons. Third and the live album are epic, top-shelf Portishead. beerwolf
Third always reminds me of an old English haunted house by the coast. Isolated and creepy. Hope it won't be wasted for you in case you automatically link it with that time every time you listen to it. Also, that might sound like bullshit but I identify the darkness of this album as the one of the times we're going through. Like there's something political in Third.
