Autechre so i heard the promo copy of the new autechre album

i have a friend who works at a local record store and he brought home a copy of quaristice last night.

we listened to it while we watched blue planet deep sea creature dvds.

it's decent. it's no draft, but its no confield either.

it has this weird o9 feeling.

also, there are actual drum patterns you can pick out in the music. we;re not talking about full on breakbeats, but instead of almost seemingly random programming, it seems that they try to take a more traditional approach to sequencing i guess.

i dunno, i need to listen to it more.

i have only heard it twice or three times though

i like it so far, there are a few great moments.

i will need to give it a good few months of listening before i have fully digested it and at that point i can say where i rate it compared to those that have gone before it.

how i understand it is that when you rip the promo disc, some sort of audio watermark can be traced in it back to whom the promo was sent. i don't know the specifics of this scheme or if it is indeed valid, but my friend is one of my best friends and i wouldn't wanna hurt his feelings by getting him in trouble.

just thought i'd let you all know that it's out basically and if you're really interested in hearing it, you should wait until it comes out.

i don't care about electronic music anymore so it's not that big a deal to me, i'm sure i'll get to hear the new BoC before it comes out as well and i'll review it accordingly.

Watermarking is really a good technique to prevent stuff from leaking.... But the thing is that no one could really leak it, even if they want to, because you can't know for sure the people you give the leak to won't as well give it to some friends or soulseek or anything else.... Once it leaks, it's all over.... We should find a way to leak it, but by a few drops only... (like one drop for each watmm users... )

Complicated problem to solve....

And the less complicated solution is to not leak it at all...

But the annoying thing is taht everytime somone who had the chance of listening to it, he comes here and gives us his impressions : which is cool, but also stars again the " LEAK IT" messages, and impatience is growing and growing....
