i thought the breakdancer guy on stage was kinda funny...considering how stoic aphex seems as he concentrates on his music. meanwhile this zany tripped out dancer in in his own little world right next to him

i really wish i knew what he was doing with that equipment. like, are those keyboards surrounding him being used,, what is it that's in front of him that he's tweaking, and is he using that computer as a midi sequencer... all questions i'd like to know

edit: but yeah. this has gotta be the greatest video i've seen of him, totally stereotypical aphex you hear about in his interviews, gear freak, knob twiddling recluse and looking very focussed and serious about the music

Someone asked how old is he? well his DOB is about 18th august 1971 I think.

They asked how old he was at the time the set was being recorded. I think it was recorded in the early nineties, he plays some classic stuff from the Analogue Bubblebath and Start As You Mean To On was recorded earlier than it was released on I Care Because You Do (1995).

I'm guessing this set was done around 1995-96. He stopped playing live pretty much after that.

Ooooh this is sweet I've been waiting years for something like this to turn up.

Geek heaven. Look at the MS20 patch he's got set up! How close are his eyes to that Quadraverb? Woah-my-god! that's a Sequential Circuits Studio 440!

Dunno what his knob boxes are but I'm guessing the one in front is just a mixer (headphones are plugged in to it) and the one for his left hand is a sort of primitive MIDI control type thing. Monitor's switched off so if that the sequencer he's left it running and it's just one long pre-arranged thing. Probabaly using the 440 as the sequencer though. That keyboard way off to the back-right with it's guts out is just for show, surely...

I need to watch this more closely to see what effect his movements have on the sound.

I saw him in about 95 IIRC and it was simlar sort of set then although I didn't recogise any of the track he played on that night.
