Amp was a great show. I remember a great video that just showed footage of people looking at stuff in a flea market/swap meet (carboot sale for you Brits in here) and have never figured out whose video it is.

orbital - i love that video - can't remember which track though...lush maybe? pretty sure it was off the brown album

i believe it was "the box"

I just checked youtube for "the box." That wasn't it. It was like an outside flea market, with old people checking out used things like old toasters and whatnot, brick-a-brack spread out on tables for sale.

dok is my fave, he should do another album with christophe charles cos they work amazingly well together.

also, markus popp's microstoria with jan st werner is brilliant stuff.

did anyone ever use the ovalprocess software, OS9 i think? never got a hold of it so was always wondering how it was.

Guest Pococurante

I remember looking for Ovalprocess sometime ago.

I could be mistaken, but I believe it was actually software written for one of his installations, and was never released to the public for general use or development.

Somewhat of a shame - but it could have been extremely idiosyncratic and without the generality that we usually expect from other paradigms.

systemisch is my favourite now

Yep, loved it since I bought it way back when on a whim.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

lots of talk but no sense. get out.

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

I've been seeing this So album in the used section at the record store for a couple years now. The cover was intriguing but the title/artist's name was so lame I've never bothered to pick it up. Now I'm thinking I will, but first I have to know how much of the album has vocals and how up front are the vocals? I don't like vocals in my computer music.

actually i have totally changed my mind about So. i think its quite possibly Oval's best work yet. IT is a unique hybrid of electronic noise/ambient and pop. Most of the vocals are unintelligible and distorted and effected beyong comprehension. It is an amazing album and i think its one of the most original things i have ever heard. You know that festival flaming lips always plays at in San francisco called Noise pop? Well that term noise pop i think is the most applicable term for this album, it literally is poppy noise music not emo feedback noise rock shit. .I think it is definitely more noise than anything else but somehow even though it is very abrasive its very calming to listen to. check it out

+1

yeah the great thing about this one is that you cant put a name on any precise emotion while listening to it. its like some traditional japanese music, you just cannot say wether its sad or happy or extatic or anything, the songs are in a very "grey" area that i like. & its not that abstract or even difficult. the vocals (that you dont understand anyway) are completly treated/processed just like any other instrument ; it has nothing to do with that ugly track autechre did a while back with a japanese singer.

also his input to the gastr del sol (jim o'rourke / david grubbs) album "camofleur" elevates that album from great to mesmerising

ah its weird its used to be online 6 months ago, that was just a flash animation of the process but still interesting.

quite curious about that reaktor patch ; i'd just read a 2006 interview of ryuichi sakamoto & he's a fan of oval too. weird that he did not collaborate with him as he did some great team works with alva noto, fennesz & c.willits (ocean fire is a beautiful record btw)..

i actually am really impressed by c. willlliliits music but it took me a great deal of time to get over how much of a douche he was in real life. I had no idea who the guy was when i was hired at the same school as him to teach a Reaktor class, he is possibly the most fashion /expensive clothing concerned experimental musician i have ever seen. i spelt his name wrong as to not trigger any google 'alerts' in case he is watching like the metasonix dude.

ah that's funny, well this OC34N F|R3 (spelling in a no google friendly way) record is damned good (sorry i wrote it properly before so that might ruined your trick) ; google is a total stalker delight, i'm quite scared that my grand children might read all the shit i wrote in 50 years..
