well i'm not sure who the committee is to sanction project 168.

apparently giraffe is walking the earth like kane in kung fu, but if we need his blessing, that's fine.

otherwise, if enough people participate and the rules are the same, i'd imagine it's as official as anything.

or we can wait around and start threads about it every 3 months like usual.

You might think differently if it was your blood sweat and tears that made the first three happen and established the name. He might be totally cool with it, and hopefully he is, but not even asking him is pretty damn disrespectful to the guy.

Surely he has an email or a myspace or something that someome can contact him at?

once again, i believe people have tried to contact him, which has been difficult as he's apparently quite literally roaming the earth.

i agree that it's a community thing - p168 seems like more of a watmm thing than a giraffe thing, although he was instrumental in making the site and projects happen.

i did ask in another thread if we should call it something else and received an overwhelming deluge of indifference so i went ahead and paid to register the site.

i know watmm tends to be a hotbed of devil's advocacy so i've been hesitant to proceed, but there seems to be enough positive response to warrant moving forward.

i'm going to be out of the country (well, the country i live in) next week, but once i'm back i'll have time to dedicate to putting the site together. if anyone wants to constructively contribute, i'm more than grateful for the help, because a project like this isn't easy to do single-handedly.

just ask giraffe.

This is merely the US version of p168 - think of it that way. I'm sure G.I.Raffe wouldn't mind, unless of course he was planning on doing another once he got the nomads out of his system...

If you sign up you get 7 days (or 168 hours) to produce an EP, which will then be uploaded to the official from where people can stream and download your music and of course comment on your EP.

As far as I remember Project168 was actually once mentioned in a music magazine.

The fact that you only get 7 days to do the EP might sound stressing but I really love working with a time limit hovering over my head. It forces you to be creative.

I hope this happens, it will force me to start and finish tracks.
