i still like the idea of autechre doing an album for children. there are so many different ways they could tackle it

If and when I end up having kids, I would play them it.

i'd like them to make a really really dark, scary, alien sounding double album.

start with the sort of things they were exploring on Confield (like Bine) and just take it that much further.

use computers for the sequencing but all the sound sources should be just analog modular synths, exotic animal call samples, obscure stuff - no readily recognizable sounds at all. it would have definite rhythms but no drum machines would be used.

release it in a mirrored metal case, each with a unique pattern of rust/scuffs/scratchings on it. no artwork. no track titles.

a real difficult to absorb yet genius piece of work.

i like their melodies, their occasional sense of humor, the hip hop influence... but i want them to make another album that is just waaay out there.

Re-make Incunabula/Amber with current studio setup. Please.

Yeah, I also want them to unlearn all the knowledge and technical ability they've picked up over the years and make less appealing music again.

I don't care any more actually, I just want to hear whatever they wanna do. But that said... I'd be curious to hear them remake Incunabula to the standards they have now. So approach the album with the same "idea", but say to themselves "we don't want it to sound as 'cheesy' (their words, not mine) as it did before, and we think we can just make it better now overall".

Unless it was the very concept or idea of the album that they find cheesy now in which case that whole exercise wouldn't really work.

And also they'll never do that. They'll never look back.

I always find it strange when people say they want a remake of Amber or Incunabula, or as you say approach it with the same "idea". But I think that all of their music is made with the same "idea". If they were remaking Incunabula and Amber they would just be making Incunabula and Amber again - their current music is the culmination of their skills and equipment picked up over the years. If they started out with the equipment and knowledge they have now I'm pretty sure the music would be similar to what they're releasing now.

This is all speculation of course.
