Where do you rank Chiastic Slide

i'm not sure where i read it, but i think they said they were quite into the magic mushrooms while writing chiastic slide

i love the album, but i just got chichli suite a month ago and i still cannot get yeesland out of my head. the production on that EP kicks chiastic slide's ass, IMO

It's one of my favorites of theirs - even though I said in another thread Untilted and Confield were. Whoops.

But really, it's got such a powerful atmosphere; certainly one of their most obviously emotional releases. And yet it's so clunky and machine-like, too. Like a big, dark, scary factory, crying its eyes out.

The first four tracks and the last track in particular are very pleasing, with some funky melodic ideas I've never heard them delve into before or since. Which is a shame!

wow calbruc is awesome. Just listened to it. Oh and now recury. It feels like a more crunchy glitchy release but not quite to the point of draft 7.30 or shit like that. Creepy song progressions.

Best description of Chiastic Slide ever, I will always think of this from now on whenever I think of/listen to this album.

and lol, i had forgotten about the little high pitched 'sheffield bleep' synth in nuane just before the robot hiphop kicks in.

that's the nice thing about autechre, there's usually enough going on to forget about little details.

and when you rediscover those bits, you're all "ahhh yeah *grin* autechre, you my homies"

I love this album. Particularly cichli, that track is fucking great!

Chiastic Slide, to me, is a shitload of rusty machines with flaking paint just grinding away at different tasks.

Not very imaginative, but that's how it sounds to me... :/

Listen further into it dude. There's some serious emotion under there, even in the most "mechanical" tracks like Rettic AC.

I have no problem finding emotion in Rettic Ac. That's the most ambient track on the album, next to Pule. xD

Guess I should try drowning out the rhythm in some of the more beat-heavy tracks to get a feeling for the melodies. Maybe fuck around with the EQ going in and out of tracks.

Maybe I should buy the album on vinyl.

It is a great album, I totally prefer their earlier work, the albums had more memorable tracks on them that I actually know the names of haha

I totally think that //_[]....")( is their best track. I especially like the lyrics. That song has so much meaning.
