Gran Torino

casting and overall acting in this movie is fucking terrible. the dialog is shit and piss with a layer of shit on top.

otherwise whatever, it's clint eastwood.

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

i laughed more watching this film than any film I have seen in the last two years, and that's no fucking exaggeration. i'm not even halfway done watching it either. for crying out loud, he's such an asshole. the writing is so basic and terrible that it pretty much caters to an angry elderly person.

much of his dialogue doesn't even need to be there. it's like the screenwriter decided to have eastwood narrate every thought in his mind instead of let the audience come to figure out through his ridiculous grimacing and grunting disapproval of everything.

it was a fucking awesome movie if only for the angry old man grimacing factor.

fixt

and I quote, "I blow a hole in your face and then I go in the house... and I sleep like a baby. You can count on that. We used to stack fucks like you five feet high in Korea... use you for sandbags."

and, "We shot people, we stabbed them, we chopped up 17 year olds with shovels."

and, the classic, Eastwood writing a Dirty Harry/western that takes place in a neighborhood, "Ever notice how you come across somebody once in a while you shouldn't have messed with? That's me."

I loved this fucking movie, Boyz in the Hood but with more heart and brains....

The clincher for me is the scene with the Hmong shaman, sensing Walt's guilt about all the killing he had done in the Korean War, and then Walt standing up, looking around the room and freaking out because of the fact that he was surrounded by Asians, having a flashback, going home to cough up blood and feel guilt that not many of us will ever understand.

Supposedly Clint wasn't going to make this film and then he started picturing Charles Bronsin as the main character and did the film as a tribute to Bronsin.

Thank you sir. The film is hardcore and if you aren't moved by it, or if doesn't make you laugh because of how over the top mean Walt's character is, until he gets to reconcile where all his anger stems from, then you might need to lay off on the Gorror Porn.

I enjoyed this film... Clint played his character well though forced in parts. I loled quite a bit... my favorite line of the film:

"What are all you fish heads looking at?"

best part was when he called him "eggroll".

zipperheads and spooks are much better racist slurs but is delivery is really what makes it over the top(pimp status not the cheesy late 80s sylvester stalone movie), the most grizzled character of the ages

What was it like to kill someone?

You don't want to know.

We shot people, we stabbed them, we chopped up 17 year olds with shovels.

the film was hilarious.

plus that corny moralizing aspect from the movie makes it complete.
