some times it sounds ok, but it doesn't sound like all the classics it says it does.

the "dark 80's electro" section totally isn't accurate sounding at all.

its essentially a groovebox though! and released in 2008 :) im guessing they were trying to compete with elektron, but only time will tell what this thing will do.

do you own one?

haha word. they have a dope concept though:

"Concept

In the beginning, synthesizers weren’t about presets and using the same sounds as everyone else. They weren’t even about creating your own sounds, but creating your own original synthesis system. You could order individual, custom made modules and combine them together in any way you liked to create your own unique synthesizer and re-configure it any time you wanted.

Moog Modular

Origin takes the concept of the Analog modular systems of the past to a new level, using cutting edge digital technology. You combine all the modules you want, - either models taken from classic synthesizers or innovative modules created by Arturia - in order to design new synthesizers that never existed before.

"

plus its a dope concepy

Guest spraaaa

I like the concept but my laptop + soundcard + cheap evolution controller + bidule cost less altogether and do not any have wood siding. also the modules look kinda limited (tho that probably depends a lot on how you can connect them). would love to see some other things like this developed though... nord micromod groovebox or something...

lol £1800 odd for that??? if I had a couple of grand to throw around I certainly wouldn't be spending it on an Arturia Origin.... you could get a Doepfer modular system AND a Moog Little Phatty for that kind of money.

Knowing Arturia this thing will be bug ridden till 2010 and I can't see how they'll beat Elektron for workflow but we'll have to wait and see.

Only 4 part tho :( for the money a Monomachine and Machinedrum will give you more.

and Jorg finally finished the http://www.radikaltechnologies.com/spectralis.html# after the best of five years.

could we please compile every fucking new (or recent) "groovebox" on the market???

i just love being able to carry one piece (and not a laptop, although i guess it sorta is like grooves-in-a-box) and jam
