So my trucking school screwed up, and somehow the DOL thought that instead of testing today and tomorrow, the tests were for yesterday and today.

I passed my Basic Controls (missed 7, skin of my teeth) and Pre-trip inspection (missed 0), and DQ'd my Road Test with a VOC.  Almost bought a light pole.

$100 pisstake.

this is pretty rad

i've been looking into jobs on shipping freighters...anyone have any experience with that?

I passed the first two-thirds of the test, but I screwed up trying to downshift from 6th to 5th, and forgot to flip the low gear selector down (so I was really trying to shift into 10th), missed the gear and forgot about what I was doing with the trailer, which was playing pedestrian on the sidewalk. So now I have to wait a week to try again. (VOC is "Vehicle Over Curb")

rofl, that sucks man, it sounds like you have the knowledge you just need to spend more time behind the wheel, it might help to rent a truck for a few hours and just drive in a parking lot all day, repeating everything over and over until it becomes reflex, or "muscle memory." good luck though, it can be extremely difficult to overcome your fear of killing everything around you and just relaxing.

yea, ill be back in denver tomorrow and through the weekend, then to north carolina, then to niagara, and i dont know where after that, probably california or into eastern canada, depending on what load pays the most.

It's a pretty bad misconception about meth and truckers, well atleast the type of trucking I do, I can get tested any time I enter a military base, and my cab is searched regularly, there really is no way I would ever try to get by with it. I have been taking half a pill of adderall every two days though, which im sure will gradually increase.

i had a dream about a month ago that i went to the USA and was at a truck stop cafe thing and ordered biscuits with gravy. it was pretty good.

yea, one of the guys unloading us gave me a light. so weird you would mention that dream, i just had biscuits and gravy at a truck stop today. it wasn't anything special.

How special are biscuits and gravy anyway

well now that I think of it, they can be quite good

biscuits and gravy initially sounded real disgusting. but then i did a cheeky wiki search and found out that biscuit refers to a totally different thing in america. WHO KNEW!

ha. that sounds a whole lot better than how i thought they'd be, which is more along the lines of some fat diner dude spraying his filthy ass juice all over a plate of cookies.

Yeh, biscuits over here are not cookies, but in fact flaky rolls that taste like they were bathed in butter for a week. At a place here called Wawa (don't know if it's a northeast USA place only) they serve breakfast sandwiches that are sausage, egg, and cheese between two biscuit halves. It's one step closer to a heart attack, but it's fucking delicious. I used to get them all the time until they introduced the even better, even unhealthier, sausage, egg, and cheese between two maple syrup soaked pancakes.

there's no denying that some of the best foods out there are the ones that are a little too close to death.

i can't imagine finding any luck getting biscuits and gravy in australia. sorry boys.
