I honestly can't wait for the skinny jean fetish / skinny everything for everyone fetish to die a fiery death. It's fine if you're an androgynous twink but for chrissakes some of us aren't. And for those of you that aren't, you look fucking ridiculous. I'm sorry, but you look fucking ridiculous. You might think it's flattering to have your ball sack bulging out because there's no room in the crotch, but outside of particular porn genres it's not. You don't look fashionably anorexic, you look like you're wearing a thin person's pants.

Can barely get fucking standard male size jeans at the fucking middle of the road Gap anymore.

I'm pretty weary of extremes in fashion. The ultra loose thing from 13 years ago looks stupid. The ultra tight thing from the past few years will look stupid if you aren't built like a twink model. If you are, fine, it's catering to your body shape. If you're not, get some 501s.

Sorry, I edited that to say it's not directed at you. You don't look bad. My legs are no joke like twice as big as yours (and no, it ain't all fat [ok, not twice as big]), so they would look ridiculous on me, and they'd look ridiculous on non-slim guys. At least in the legs you are a slim guy.

The fucked up thing is if I diet and exercise more my legs stay the same size and just get a little more solid.

Post-2001 or so fashion is basically just actively hostile towards my body type.

Fortunately, I can rock some classically tailored styles that never seem to go out of fashion on bigger/average dudes, even if there's a strong whiff of Mad Men trendiness now. Whatever. I have Brooks Brothers biz casual clothes, I'm in my 30s, it looks age appropriate and good on me, I'm a lawyer, I'm a fucking white dude from New England, I know how to sail, I'm not going to hide it, lol.

I went from boot cut to slim straight myself.

Used to be the Gap-branded "standard fit," which sit just a little below the waist, looked pretty great and flattering and not huge on me, but they started fucking with their sizing a year or two ago and I don't know anymore. You can try on two different "standard" fit jeans in their store now, of the same size but two different washes, and they'll fit totally differently.

I know gap ain't a prestige designer brand or anything, but they were really nice, classically flattering (non-Dad) jeans for a while, and I'd get comments on looking pretteh good in them from all types of folk.

Levis 501s are probably still perfect for most bigger legged dudes, but they're also a pain in the ass to size with the whole anticipated shrinkage thing.

Also, BCMs jeans look fine. Although I don't like the fake fades on the lap and pockets, but at least there aren't fake fades behind the knees or anything.
