bcm, i think those jeans look great on you. they look slim fit, not skinny. there is a world of difference (skinny fit are as tight as leggings, slim fit have some nice looseness).

baggy pants are disgusting and i'm glad THAT trend is dying out. took a while, since they were so popular in the 90s, the decade that the majority of you old farts are still living in fashionwise.

actually, over here, the cool hipster fashion now seems to be a mixture of early 80's Miami Vice pastel colours, ray ban sunglasses and boat shoes, mixed with early 90's Doc Marten wearing Cyberpunk/Matrix-esque Goth shit.

Yeah, baggy pants are just about as bad as skinny pants.

I'm a really fucking strange person. I wear pants that are neither baggy nor testicle strangling. In other words, I wear pants that, ya know, fit?

sometimes fashion is extremely gay. current fashion is definately in an extremely gay phase. like that tight 3/4 length, wildly coloured chinos, low cut, flimsy tops or blouses and loafers with no socks look you see so much.

women actually do seem to be attracted to trouser bulge. even if it's so mishapen by tightness that it looks like you've stuffed roadkill squirrel down there. that's my only experience of wearing skinny jeans in public, a woman stared at my crotch for hours, smiling (then i used them to paint in and never wore them again, although i understand that the paint would make me look arty).

yeah i actually had a weird confrontation with some trendy 19/20 year olds who looked like they were from a bad place in the 90s. they actually tried to start a fight with me before they realised i was going to the same party.

Diesel jeans, always a good cut and pretty bombproof. Buying decent jeans is a good investment. Levis 514 are really good too.

When this thread was new I couldn't take skinny jeans seriously (except for the skater kids) but since then they have become so ubiquitous - what Sirch describes above as hipster wear is basically high street menswear - that my mind has slowly become beaten into submission with the result that they just look normal now (of course they look absurd on adult men with anything more than 5% body fat) but still I will not succumb to them.

My last jeans purchase were slim fit as opposed to the usual straight or bootcut (bootcut have started to offend me) and like Kakapo I have invested in some slim fit chinos (not lilac - more a kind of rusty orange brown (FML)) and a nice skinny fit 3 piece Suit (the legs are slim fit not drainpipes).

I think the key neurological rewiring that has occurred is that I no longer require my trainers / shoes to be at least 50-60% covered by the ankle of my trousers. Throughout most of my life I have been repulsed by the sight of my own tongue (shoe not mouth) and tieing the laces in a bow is a no-no. But these days I am happy to flaunt my tongue. In fact I may occasionally be seen tugging at my pant leg so the ankle sits nicely atop it.

Conclusion: I have become a desensitised to exposed-shoe through over saturation of the skinny-pantaloon.

Sellout.

I can't understand the skinny jeans thing. I tried a pair on and nearly killed myself out of shame. I think the problem is that I have a mans frame, where most skinny jeans wearers are all small and frail like ritter gurr.
