Circumvention Of The Word Filters

I'm finding myself having to 'police' threads where 'clever' people are circumventing the word filters (that besides that acronym I personally cannot stand, filter out offensive racial epithets and certain file-sharing sites that I do not want showing up in the Google index for WATMM) with greater frequency, and as a result, from this point forward, anyone circumventing the filters in place by any means will be warned, and their account suspended, permanently if needed, if multiple repeated infractions occur.

The word filters were put in place due to members of the forum being offended by racial epithets, and since asking people not to use such language didn't work, the filters became a matter of necessity.

Filtering haxx0rz websites and the n-word is fine, but I want my eye dee emm back! :unhappy:

I'm against the word filters. It's silly and just causes confusion. Imagine word filters for real life. It's like a few bad seeds spoiling it for the rest, just warn/ban the people who abuse use them against others instead of an intelligent (ohh pun) way.

why do you hate the acronym? i think it describes a certain type of electronic music accurately. even if you hate the name itself, it is still important and used everywhere, including a ton of artists on last.fm

if there was a problem with people overusing it with unrelated music things, then there should be rules about that. just banning the acronym outright shouldn't be an acceptable solution

i agree with you but when i see electronic music i dont actually think of what it stands for, i just see the letters, and the music i associate with it. i wouldn't tell someone i listen to 'intelligent dace music' but just electronic music. then if they asked what it stood for, i'd just say it's just electronic music and doesn't mean anything

either that or i say it's ELM which stands for electronic listening music

I think the word cunt should be filtered then, its a hell of a lot more condescending than eye dee em, and I love the word, but that doesn't mean to say it doesn't cause massive offence to a lot of people.
