Circumvention Of The Word Filters

Recommended Posts

Guest El_Chemso

I for one have missed this chapter of watmm. Can some please clarify what words are no longer allowed. As I understand it:

The N Bomb.

Describing Aphex Twin and others as Inteli Dance Music in its Acronym format or otherwise.

Anything else we need to watch out for?

The way its spelt makes no difference to the way it sounds though, when pronounced, so when used in the racist context, whether spelt with the E or the A makes no difference.

Hey sucka African American, whoever you are (repeat 2x)

Hey sucka African American, hey sucka African American

Whoever you are, whoever you are

[q-tip]

Aiyyo, turn it up muhammad

With the upper bassline

I be hatin sucka mcs, and the sucka African Americans

Posing like they hard when we know they damn card

What you figure, rhyme-wise, I do the figure eight

So concisely, musically we are the herb so sit back

And light me, inhale *inhalation noise*

My style is kinda fat reminescent of a whale

Young girls desires for the females dreams

I be the abstract poetic representin from queens

Socially Im not a name, black and white got game

If you came to the jam, well Im glad you came

See, African American first was used back in the deep south

Fallin out between the dome of the white mans mouth

It means that we will never grow, you know the word dummy

Other African Americans in the community think its crummy

But I dont, neither does the youth cause we

Em-brace adversity it goes right with the race

And being that we use it as a term of endearment

African Americans start to bug to the dome is where the fear went

Now the little shorties say it all of the time

And a whole bunch of African Americans throw the word in they rhyme

Yo I start to flinch, as I try not to say it

But my lips is like the oowop as I start to spray it

My lips is like a oowop as I start to spray it

My lips is like a oowop as I start to spray the

Sucka African American, African American African American

I throw the sucka in the front for the ones that front

The sucka African Americans, African American African American

I throw the sucka in the front for the ones that front

The sucka African Americans, African American African American

I throw the sucka in the front for the ones that front

Its the neo-African American of the nineties, cmon

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

Woman Is the African American of the World

Single by John Lennon

from the album Some Time in New York City

Released 1972

Format 7" vinyl

Recorded 1972

Genre Rock

Length 5:16

Label Apple, EMI[1]

Writer(s) John Lennon

Producer Phil Spector, John Lennon and Yoko Ono

"Woman is the African American of the World" is a 1972 song by John Lennon and The Plastic Ono Band. The phrase was originally coined by Yoko Ono during a magazine interview in 1969. Lennon later said during his Live in New York City album that it took him until 1970 to "dig it." He was hoping to show how women were and still are being treated.

Meaning

The song lambasts the perceived traditional role of woman's subservience to man across all cultures. It was banned from radio airplay because of the word 'African American', though it was played on WHRW-FM, and many prominent blacks, including black comedian Dick Gregory, spoke out in defense of the song.

Appearances

The song was included on the 1975 album Shaved Fish (with one verse removed) but left off subsequent compilations such The John Lennon Collection (1982) and Lennon Legend: The Very Best of John Lennon (1997). However it was included on 2005's Working Class Hero: The Definitive Lennon.

John Lennon performed the song with the band Elephant's Memory and with Yoko Ono on the Dick Cavett Show in May 1972. Because of the controversial title, ABC asked Dick Cavett to apologize to the audience in advance for the song's content, otherwise the performance would not have been shown.

Tracklisting

The B-side of the single is Yoko's "Sisters O Sisters," also from the Some Time in New York City album. An acoustic early-stage version appeared in a shortened form on the 2004 album Acoustic: the same version had already appeared in its full length on some bootlegs such as The Complete Lost Lennon Tapes.

1. "Woman Is the African American of the World" 5:16

2. "Sisters O Sisters" 3:48
