gtfo... I am waiting for a better leak to listen more but the whole album felt way too "pretentious/self-aware" that it turned me off.

I don't know how!!!!!!!!!!

I'll give it more spins when I get a better copy. Let your excitement cool a bit though... best record of all time...?

I'll be very shocked if this gets as much critical success as Merriweather (only reason I compare is cause both bands essentially have become arch-rivals ala the Beatles and Rolling Stones).

It will, and it is 'one' of the best records imo....along with Merriweather

first listen was ok. listens are that i totally fell in love with half the tracks but bored by the others. listened to it a fair bit now the album as a whole is proving to be really awesome :)

although i still think the quality of some of the tracks totally out does the others. i think it's about face/hold still where i lose interest in the album, but the rest is really really really good.

This album is a masterpiece.

I'M SEEING THEM ON MONDAY! Oh man oh man... so good. This album's left me feeling very inspired.

This album is a masterpiece. simple as that. well said. its totally amazing and gets even better everyday. there are so many tiny flourishes all over this record that really push it over the top for me. like in the track 'i live with you' you can hear bits of a small crowd laughing and people saying shhhh...little things like that are everywhere on this album just waiting to be discovered listen after listen.

'they go we go i want you to know what i did i did'

always in my head. love it :)

the mastering of the album changes after track 7 though, at least on the leak i have. i'm guessing this won't be part of the album and look forward to getting it properly and not having to worry about quality and rubbish like that. albums totally worth buying.

The record store I go to had it in stock on Saturday for some reason, so I've had a chance to familiarize myself with it before the show. Actually, the only reason I know about the show is because the guy who sold the CD to me asked if I was going. I'm curious to see how well they can pull this stuff off live on Tuesday (I was mistaken about what day they were playing before). It's one harmony laden opus of an album. They have a very unique approach to melody. It's rare that I hear an artist that has their own melodic style, but Grizzly Bear is one of the few examples.

Also, I heard the leak was unmastered, so don't let that fool you! The production on the CD sounds glorious, and it all flows really nicely from track to track.

I lost my Yellow House sadly, so I can't compare anymore... but this one fast becoming one of my favorite albums, period. I know what you mean about it being slow at points in the middle, but the high points are incredible, just stunning. The harmonies were bang on at the live show, as was everything. I didn't fully realize how crazy good the drummer is until seeing them live either. Now there's a drummer that can really feel the music he's playing. Also, the bass player's facial expressions are mesmerizing. He sings like he's trying to swallow the world.

I love the new album but it was my first introduction to Grizzly Bear. I guess I should listen to Yellow House since everyone loves it

I liked Yellow House but this is a lot better.

My favorite song on Yellow House is 'Knife'.

i can not express how awesome i think this album is. the only weak part of anything for me is the beginning of dory, but the melody at the en makes up for it. i really dont see anything weak about the middle section of this record. ready, able and cheerleader are probably my fav songs and they are in the middle.

The middle's not weak, but I can see how some people might find it slow or whatever if they're not in the right head space for it. The whole thing's phenomenal. I love the room sounds they use on practically everything. It makes it all sound very alive. That's always been a cool aspect about their sound, but here it sounds like they've really mastered what they do. Exciting stuff.
