Aphex Twin "What is the Most IDM Thing" Bracketology 2009

Ladies and Gentlemen, at long last, March Madness has descended upon us in all its glory, and once again it is time to battle to see what will be the most IDM thing of 2009! Last year Black Holes usurped the show and came home with the title, ominously spending the remainder of the year reigning over all other things as the most IDM thing in the universe. In 2007 it was Beards, who, though champions, were out-poised by then-cinderellas and now-legends Deep Sea Creatures.

So who will win this year? Can space stations escape their orbit of mediocrity, rebound from last year's disappointing showing, and finally perform to their potential? Will cats squander their 7th life? Will another unknown show up ready to dance and shake the IDM community? Will Fractals' unpredictable defense finally be figured out? All this and more awaits us!

Here is the schedule of events:

Week 1

Today and Tomorrow: Phase 1, Brainstorming

Saturday-Sunday: Phase 2, Voting on who makes the field (also determines tournament seeding)

Week 2

Monday: Opening round of competition. 64 teams will be competing.

Tuesday: Round 2 of competition. The winning 32 teams compete

Wednedsay: The winning 16 teams compete (Sweet Sixteen)

Thursday: 8 teams compete (Elite Eight)

Friday: Semifinals (Final 4)

Saturday - Monday: Championship Match.

The Most IDM Thing will be crowned on Tuesday, March 31st after the championship poll is closed

Remember, we're not talking about things directly instrumental in creating IDM, such as bandpass filters and fancy synthesizers mind you. An aphex twin CD is NOT an electronic music thing either, for our purposes. What we are talking about are things that inherently capture the essence of IDM on their own. Things that are things themselves.

Now it is time, my friends, to choose the field of competition for the 3rd Annual What is the Most IDM Thing Bracketology. Suggest your picks and brainstorm away! We will put as many things mentioned in this thread as possible in the next poll to determine the top 64 teams.
