Autechre anti- ep

here are the release dates for autechre's first three releases under that name:

incunabula lp 29 november 1993

anti- ep 3 september 1994

amber lp 7 november 1994

i think it's well-known that incunabula is a compilation of older autechre tracks

but is amber as well? because although it was released after the anti- ep, anti-

seems more progressive and complicated to my ears, i just wonder if anyone

knows for sure whether amber was pushed back in order to get anti- out early

well, half the point of the EP was to have a very "dancey" vibe.

it's got complicated rhythms but it's fairly straightforward beat-wise.

quite dancefloor friendly.

what i think is, that they split their focus between:

a texture heavy ambient release (Amber)

a sort of "club" release. (Anti)

also it's got that cheeky Flutter track.

there's every chance it was made in the same sessions.

plenty of similar samples.

half the sounds on Djarum are identical to those on Montreal.

summary: think of it like Garbage EP. strewn off tracks from the proper release.

maybe even demos before they switched their focus to more ambient material?

I still think "Lost" is one of their best tunes ever. Awesome...

actually i just had cavity job mistaken for lego feet, which wasn't as autechre
