Nah, you can do it offline.

But yes, the disc needs to be in the system. Otherwise everyone would just run out to Blockbuster, rent everything, then rip them to the HDDs.

*rubs forehead*

Okay, so I still need to put the disc in to play an installed game?  Like PC games?

Hold it, do I need the hard drive? I only have a core system.

Yes, exactly. The installation is to cut down on load times and stop the noisy as fuck disc drive, but you need to have the disc in initially to prove you own the game to play it.

[edit] Wait, if you have the core then nevermind. You can't install anything.

Well, we're planning on getting one, but this is a huge bonus, aside from playing Original Xbox games.

The hard drive's good for XBLA games, too. That's where the best of the 360 is.

From what I've read in GameInformer about Xbox Live Online Co-op play, I wouldn't enjoy it that much.

YES YES YES

yes it's great! i've finished easy/normal/hard/hardest on my own... but inferno difficulty seems almost impossible without someone helping you with co-op.

Even WITH a friend in co op the last level is a nightmare. Me and my cousin have got every level on every difficulty except the last two on Inferno. How much health have you got? I think we're rocking about 5000 each now.

This game is awesome, it's the epitome of the kind of thing I get addicted to. Simple gameplay, not too much focus on the graphics, just pure fun. Pick up and play. And it's budget price, everyone should get it.

i had a lot of fun with this game playing co-op with my girl, but we didn't realize that you only get achievement points for beating the entire game on each of the difficulty settings. we played through all the game alternating difficulties because some were too easy, some were too hard, so when we finally finished we had nothing to show for it unless we went back and replayed a bunch of levels. the game is just too tedious for that. other than that, it was a fun game.

i'm still looking for a game for 360 that is 2-4 co-op player, same console. that dual link shit is gay, why is xbox too cool for split screen?

i like shooters (fps or third), dynasty warriors run-around-hack-everything, baldur's game rpg stuff. i got castle crashers and it's fun but a little too arcadey. online or not, as long as it's multiplayer. halp?

good luck. doesn't exist. the closest i've come is left4dead, but honestly, that game kinda sucks, so i couldn't really recommend it. there's always halo 3 or something like that, but even with that i feel like the split screen option fucking sucks (not widescreen, black bars on side). there's gears of war 2, but that wasn't very satisfying either. short and anticlimactic. i was psyched for too human, but turned out the 2 player game was only via online or system link.

i'm in the same boat though. i'm still waiting for a baldur's gate/champions of norrath type game to play co-op with my woman. mostly we've just been watching eachother play single player games and side-seat gaming.
