Someone in BBC loves Aphex.

Recommended Posts

Have you noticed the mass of Aphex Twin songs used in BBC adverts. There was Avril 14th on 1 or 2 for a drama also for a hospital thing another piano solo from Drukqs. Just flicking channels a min ago and there was Heliosphan from SAW 85-92. How much do you reckon he's getting payed for this?

no shit sherlock.

edit: acyually, he'll be a member of the mcps, which gives the bbc a blanket license to use bits of any of his registered tracks for about 3.50 sterling a inute... there's a lot of unrest amongst mcps members regarding the fact that bbc negotiated a perpetual contract with mcps sometime in the 70's, and despite inflation and etc, the prices for synching tunes have remained the same... the bbc are digging their heels in, despite being a publically owned company.

boo.

Exactly...."oh noes I can't listen to deh Twinds as they's is on the televissles and now I can't feel special as I head deh Twins first on intarnets.....". It's a pretty ridiculous comment if you weren't being sarcastic.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

Awwww yeah! Dat some good shit dere. I hope dey had Goldie in da background bouncin to it.

Okay, done being retarded. Personally, I've never had a problem with artists lending out their music to commercials and whatnot as long as it doesn't insult the meaning of the song in anyway (like when some assholes wanted to use The Police's "Don't Stand So Close to Me" for a deodorant commercial); it's just a means for them to garner funds to create more (and hopefully better) music.

Which reminds me of Bob Dylan's reason for letting one of his songs be used in a Victoria's Secret commercial: he likes women.
