haha ,they forgot to show 2008 which looks like a straight rectangle as evident by any tracks from Turning Dragon when viewed on bleep.com

sound is for the ears, not the eyes. that being said, that chart is amazing...

well yeah but i didn't search out that graphic just for fun, it was because my ears didn't enjoy the compression (and what sounds like an exciter on every channel)

anyway i still enjoy clark's music despite not liking his post-production

i dont really know dick about the way albums are mastered or whatever but i liked body riddle because the bass fuckin bumped and it sounded overall a lot less like flat than this and turning dragon do. its not a dealbreaker for me though obviously since i've been shittin my pants over this album since i heard it

i know, and your point is totally valid. i just feel like too many people get so caught up in what chris' sine waves look like, they miss out on his amazing song structures and complete attention to detail in every nanosecond of his compositions.

Dear Tim Exile,

This is how to correctly use vocals if you have no fucking clue how to sing.

Sincerely,

Chris Clark

QFT

Listening Tree is totally ruined by the shitty vocals.

while Exile's lyrics ill admit are pretty bad and detracted from Listening Tree i can't really say at the same time that Clark's lyrics blew me away or weren't cringe worthy in some parts either.

I feel like most of the electronic artists who try to sing over their tracks can't sing, but thats just me !

RJD2, so funny and true it hurts

word... he gets my respect for keeping his mind open from second to second on so many tracks. i think it's easier to put into words what you don't like about something and i think that most music reviews, from forum snobs like me, focus on the negative out of convenience (and maybe too much pride to dish out compliments to anything that doesn't blow me away on every conceivable dimension. it's aphex's fault!)

turning dragon and growls garden are the only things of his i dont have the physical releases from. was there any other artwork inside the cd aside from the cover? im asking because im hoping the inside of totems flare has some art and not just a color. actually, im hoping for lyrics but i know thats not happening.

I enjoy the fragility of the rolling lol tbh. The broken lol is like our own mortality staring us in the face, reminding us to enjoy that sunset.

How many albums has he been using that weird octave-shifting synth sound?

Yeah it's a cool sound but I feel like it's on every track!

This is definitely the best album I have heard this year. Can't stop listening to it. I've been playing it for days. People who come by my flat ask waht it is and i keep havng to explain "It's Clark" and then i have to say "Chris Clark" and they still dont know who it is. And then i just blank out for a while. And then i come and write this post. Fuck man, this is like twitter. I'm drunk.

Seriously, the answer that most people give to that query is "Well, CD's cost so much more in Japan so artists are encouraged to add an extra track as an incentive for the Japanese public to buy from their local shop instead of importing a copy from eBay.com". It's a lazy fucking answer, but it's the one most people opt for because they read it somewhere on the internet.

No bearikson, i don't think he has. Otherwise he would have said. Very optimistic query there, beariksson

And finally from Bearikson:

Well, Bearikson, i don't think you are the only one. It is a natural response to want that CD. We are grateful you jumped to the front of the queue to exclaim your desire to own that CD. I think maybe you will one day have mp3's of that CD, Sony Beariksson. But you will have to be patient. Santa isn't coming for 7 months, so will have to be a good boy until then and do good posts on this forum and maybe Santa will reward you with a bootleg. Around december time, you should fire off this letter to Lapland:

"Dear mp3 Santa,

My name is bearikson and i have been a very good boy this year. Santa, I love to listen to IDM and I like to own all the tracks by my favourite artists. I saw a Live CD that I wanted to own but it's only available in Japan. Do you have it in your sack? Santa, if you are delivering over Japan can you ask them why they get all the good bonus goodies? I have been a very good boy this year and i find it saddening that the Japanese are being unfairly rewarded. Santa, I am so into the IDM scene at the moment and I like to do posts and stuff about the music on a forum so I can keep up to date with whats going on. Sometimes I talk shit but mainly I like to ask questions and give opinions. I'm good, santa. This Live CD is top of my wishlist. Please bring it to me. I'll do anything for you and Rudolph. Anything.

Love Bearikson"
