Clark - Totems Flare

i dont want to jump to any conclusions at this early juncture, but man, this album fucking rocks hard. very creative and very different. love it so far. gonna be a lot of hate on this but who cares, he is the only one pushing hard now. keeps on trying to reinvent himself in interesting ways. go chris!

it rocks hard. his aesthetic has always been tight, this latest direction is wicked. dirty grimey electro but.. chris clark.

cant wait to hear it out a proper sound system..

i wouldn't quite go that far, there are a lot of artists who aren't on labels as big as warp or even unsigned ones who are pushing the envelope pretty hard right now in terms of electronic beat music.

yes i like this too, go chris! (but lay off the compression a tiny bit or some of your tracks are going to sound dated in 10 years when people stop doing the smashed sidechain Ed banger records sound)

there are so many crazy and wacky ideas on this record. I get a Night Knuckles feel from a lot of them. not so much in sound as much as him having fun. he sounds like he had fun making this. he also sounds like he tripped his balls off at several carnivals.

So I`m about half way now and this album is awesome but one thing I don`t like is how he`s fallen in love with modulating the octave switch... kinda sounds cheesy in most places (totem crackerjack is an exception)

I didn't get the leak, but I decided to actually try to really understand what's going on in the Growl's Garden ep, and I think I've gotten to like it a bit better with a careful listen. So I'll be more accepting of this album when I get it, besides, Totem Crackerjack is so ridiculously good, I can't even express how fucking awesome that tune is.

Please be advised that i will be buying this, your most interesting and accomplished record since Empty the Bones of You. Although I do not care whether or not you have the 'floating man' on the people's foreheads, I do, however, very much care about a lyrics page in the artwork. Every song has captured my attention with clever melodies and catchy rhythms. The placement of vocals is very well done and I would really like to know what is being said so I may sing along properly while shaving and driving. Please do not fill the inside again with a lovely peach, brown, red or whatever colors you have not used yet. Instead, please print proper lyrics so I may read whilst I enjoy this record in front of the fire.

Ok all his songs sound like 40 songs wrapped in 1 song, but they sound alright mostly actually

Totem Crackerjack = head on collision of Body Riddle and Turning Dragon. Most of it is pretty good and the vocal work seems well placed. Not too keen on the vocoder, however.

love love love this album. like an uncannily familiar dream. rainbow voodoo is standout for me...

i bought growl's as a digital release; have to say i'm going that route again. the leak is only 192 anyways!

After repeated listens I'm really starting to love this now. Just so much going on throughout the album its too much to take in at once. Growls Garden also sounds really fucking legendary a few months on too.

Just thought I would mention, starting at about 3:20 on the opener Outside Plume is just about one of the most fantastic Clark moments to date and shows how awesome this album is going to be, such a great place for such a great melody. Holy shit for those who will not pirate at least get the opener track to peak your excitement!
