Macbook failure

Guest Babar

Today i woke up with great prospects : cleaning up my hardisk in order top get the 4GB that needs the 10.5.7 update. I launched the updates, it rebooted by itself, then at the very end of the process the thing told me that my hard disk was corrupted. I tried to repair the disc'autorisation (ACL stuffs and the likes) unsuccessfully.

The only thing i can do now is reinstall everything, oh shit i'm so fucking happy. But i want to get my files out of the harddisk prior to any formatting. ====> linux live cd

So far i've tried :

backtrack 2 (but the cd was fucked up)

backtrack 3 (don't detect the harddrive)

mandriva one (don't boot)

ok so, which live distro will work on a macbook pro (bvecause i'm). I'm not gonna tried every linuxes on the market, so please give me an advice.

I'm trying to calm down by listening to autechre.... seems to woRKKw,redjng

I guess this is obvious, but did you try calling Apple?

I just got my first macbook pro in the mail today, updated and iphoto kept crashing due to the latest software updates they require you to do upon first startup. Called apple and they took care of the prob no sweat, my 250$ warranty hard at work.

That Backtrack might not have HFS support so you could try and install that. It might be easier to use an Ubuntu Live CD and use this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1119469

You may have to mount manually though, no idea.

do you have another mac? can't you just do target disk mode and grab all the files you need manually?
