A couple of years ago (might as well be five, I'm getting old and time flies) Macc or dgOHn wrote a little tutorial on breakbeat choppage. Some great details on avoiding timestretching, quantizing, etc, that I'd like to revisit.

Can't for the life of me google my way back to it. Does anyone remember?

Cheers, I had a look there. There are lots of good tips on mixing and mastering, but the article on breaks isn't there.
