Why not host the server ourselves?

Dedicated server hosting is such a pointless waste of money, you're basically paying them so they can afford another server in 2 years... I look at it the same way as with car leasing.

You can build a server that could run all year for less than $1000 that'd be more than enough for Apache and MySQL (I built a webserver and it ran for 2 years straight before I turned it into a music production computer). The only issue would be bandwidth, I'm not sure how much of it is used up per month but maybe it would be cheaper to host via ISP than with a webhost.

but if you move to a dedicated server, what happens in six months when the money runs out?

As mentioned, this is only 40USD per month - much more manageable for me, and

I've got a list of all who donated, and, assuming I can match up emails or names to your accounts here, I've got something special in mind for those who've so generously donated.

Member donations are tough. I personally dont think its worth it to pay for archiving all this stuff. Let's live like we're gonna die tomorrow.

Keep it lean. Use those ads.

Let's get sponsored by Rephlex or something.

Ads are a dying market, hence why we don't have the ads anymore - it was nice while it lasted, though.

To be honest a subtle banner ad at the bottom wouldn't bother me at all, I might even click it if papa asked nicely.

Appreciate the sentiment, but if at all possible, I'd like to keep WATMM clean of such distractions...

I only have $12 in my bank account right now and have to worry about how I'm going to make my $900 rent for next month. FUCK, I will help when things look smooth for me financially

No problem - I don't expect anyone to put themselves out - please keep your priorities in line and take care of yourselves first!

Hosting it ourselves has one problem (a big one) most home ISPs don't allow it, and even if they did, most upload rates are quite pathetic, so the site would be slower than molasses frozen in the Arctic.

Make it so under our avatars where it says 360 gamertag, it is one line.

Nice catch - I will fix that.
