Autechre Intermittent bursts of static

Listening to some old Autechre reminded me of the power of a bit of digital noise.

It's used in films a lot as a tension thing isn't it?

I have some kind of David Lynch / Trent Reznor / Darren Aronofsky scene cutting thing in my head with each cut interspersed with a hard hit of static but I can't place it right now and it's really bugging me.

Is there a perfect bit of digital static? Or even a hierarchy?
