i once told a girl that i was not interested in dating her but enjoyed hooking up with her. on the one hand it enabled her to hate me for probably forever, which is probably good for her, i do believe she ended up holding a bitter grudge against me because we hooked up a few more times after i told her i was not interested in dating her. but on the other it sucked for me because i quite liked her as a friend. so if you care about them do what's best for them and be direct and let them move on with their life.
