hmm wouldn't be able to make it in one week.

no money + no place to crash. oh well.

d00d there's totally crash space here at my place. realistically though i don't think the warp20 party will be in one week. it's probably gonna take freakin' ages to get here!

Thank you Dragon for enlightening me to the beauty of Pule, a track I never gave too much attention to. Also Rettic Ac is such an unbelievably tender melody, I wish the track were longer

Just getting a short review posted before the end of this week's cycle of albums:

Chiastic Slide is obviously such an incredibly detailed album, you can tell a lot of time and focus was spent on it. Although it's not one of my favourite releases from ae, there are unforgettable tracks which stand out for me. I noticed some people saying how they don't quite enjoy Calbruc as much as most of the other tracks.. I personally hold it up very highly among the tracks off this release because for me, although it's fairly short, it's got such a strong melody that I like which drives the tune forwards -- It emits emotion so blatantly out of a lot of the other tracks on Chiastic Slide too. Recury is another that I really enjoy. It comes off as repetitive but in abstraction it's always evolving throughout.

I can relate to the associations people often make about the overall atmosphere on this album: being in some kind of surreal, mechanical/factory environment with machines grinding the percussion. It's such a "raw" album, far away from being clean and clinical.

So the stand outs for me: Chichli, Calbruc, Recury and Nuane.

Envane EP is excellent. I don't have anything negative to say about it, I just find myself always enjoying coming back to it, so I will reserve my positive review otherwise it would become lengthy and I won't know when to stop. It gets quite a regular listen out of ae's discography. Although it's a tangent off Chiastic Slide, it has many similarities, most notably with the percussion. I also look at this EP as quite accessible to new listeners, the melodies/pads are obvious and there is not really any patience required for the tracks either. 1997 was definitely one of the best eras for Sean and Rob.

Just given Envane a full listen. I really, really like this EP. In fact, I'm gonna go ahead and say that it's the best EP Ae have ever produced. It's a perfect balance between their hip-hop origins and the professional style they apply to their later works. It is impossible to improve on the opening of Goz Quarter in any way, it's just perfect. And then it evolves into a wonderful harmony of dewy, cloudy melodies which still work amazingly with the percussion.

I didn't think much of Latent Quarter at first, but it has grown on me quite a lot, and now I'm sure it's one of their best. Laughing Quarter is a colossal masterpiece up there with Eutow, Nuane and Pen Expers as Ae's most epic tracks. And then Draun Quarter comes in to put the EP to sleep. This is what music is all about. Clicking, bending percussion holding together a shifting, evolving rhythm while the most beautiful string symphony moving from the background to the foreground. I don't think I've ever felt sadness while listening to the end of Draun Quarter, it's absolutely perfect!

This post goes out to Sean Booth and Rob Brown for allowing us to hear something truly magical :ok:

I guess I'm a bit late to the party on this one but is it just me or does Chiastic Slide seem like more than the sum of its parts? It has my favorite production out of Autecre's albums so maybe that's what does it for me.

That description is bang on.

Cipater OMG total hard-on. the second half is like a hip-hop beat that's been wrung through a sieve and pared down to its beautiful essence but spiced with a hint of cold fusion.

백호야~~~항상에 사랑할거예요.나의 아들.

Shout outs to the saracens, musulmen and celestials.
